I am looking to upgrade the MIM Model 70 extractor with a spring steel extractor from Williams.

How do you go about taking the old extractor off and replace with the new one? I am sure that I could figure it out but a quick lesson might save me some trouble and skinned knuckles.

I did this. The workmanship on the Williams replacement is very nice and works fine.

IIRC, removal is literally a snap. Make sure the rifle is unloaded, then double check. Remove the bolt. Rotate the extractor to one side or the other so it'll clear the groove that is cut part way around the bolt sleeve (body). I forget whether it's the RH side or the LH side, but it will be obvious to you. Now, use a thumb to depress the extractor in the middle of the longer open section and push forward. Installation is the reverse. I'm going by memory so if I've missed something I'm sure someone will correct, but I think it was that easy.
