Win 94 or a Marlin 336? That is the question...

I can't remember the last time I drew a bead on a head of game and thought "I wish I had a scope".

Me either....because I have a scope.

Any proficient rifleman can take his peep-sighted levergun to 200yds without too much trouble.

Some folks are just plain hunters, not riflemen.

Well, I just bought a Leupold VXII 1-4x20 for the Marlin. Should be pretty damn sweet.

Never tried peep sights, but my biggest buck was taken at about 100 yards with an old Marlin 45-70. Open sights. I was about 16 at the time. I am sure one of these days, I might go the Winchester 94 peep sight route.

Win 94 or Marlin 336

Don't let 'em jerk ya around about nostalgia. The M336 is still an M95, and it and the Savage M99 were all three invented at the same time. They were just introduced at different times.
Since it was available in .30/30 also, my thoughts go to th M99. Right now I've got an M94 22" half-magazine .25/35 Improved, M92 21"-barrelled half-magazine .256 Mag, and an M71 .375/348 Improved with 20" barrel in my closet, but I keep thinking about a .219 Zipper M336 that I spotted a while back. They're ALL good!
Have fun,
Gene
