I wish there was an Academy Sports around here :( I've been using the WWB .45s for a while now because the price of S&B went up about a dollar per box in the past year. I used to order it by the half case for $7.95/box...now it's closer to $9/box. The WWB is pretty good, I haven't had any problems with it.

Oh yeah - stay away from Dick's. I used to work there...the name is quite fitting. I quit after the store manager yelled at me about doing a good job.

I've seen the 100-round WWB in .380, 9mm, .38 Special, .40 S&W and 45 ACP.

On a side note, I recently got this in my last box of the 40 S&W:

It's the only one I've ever found loaded backward. I think it might have an issue feeding correctly from the magazine...

Sam Adams nailed it....

Dick's is NOT friendly to folks approving/supporting the 2nd Ammendment.

RE: Wally World...(also won't sell handguns)...they are selling .380 Auto in bulk packs as well as the other calibers already mentioned.

Maybe you should send those photos, along with the bullet in question, to Winchester. Maybe they'd send you a few boxes or a case for free, like other manufacturers that screw up. Be sure to let them know the lot number - or send the box - as this may help with QC. Heck, helping with QC may save someone's sight or life, so even if they don't give you anything, send the info and the bullet along.

ammo

wwb here is 10.97 @ walmart.you can get 9mm wwb or umc at bass pro for 11.99 for 100.right now a local shop has cci blazer 45 acp on sale 17.10 incl tax for 100 rds.

I have seen a personal defense load for 9mm and .45 at walmart in WWB but its not a value pack, its a 50 round box. I use the 9mm in 115 and 147 jhp, and will try the 230 .45 once I own a .45.

I cant stand the value pack ammo - I've chronographed some and anything that has VALUE PACK on it from Wincester is consistently slower than the regular government type ammo.

Their regular government type ammo costs me the same so I go with that. The 165 40's are the same price as the 180 for me and I've had a few problems with the 165 VP's.

I use .45 valuepacks. Blazer is good, but my thompson doesnt get along with it, a few FTEs. Blazer Brass runs fine though. Wal-mart here in Asheville used to sell cases of 9mm valuepacks (for the price of ten value packs - no price break). I dont know if its regular stock or not, I've only seen it once or twice, It might just be selling that fast.

As for Dick's, I dont shop there anyway. The two or three times I've been the selection of .45 ammo really sucked. The last thing I got there was a hockeypuck for my Caprice, that was almost a year ago.

On a side note, I ave regularly have had 101-102 rounds in a box on the 9mm Value Packs.
Same here. However, I also got them with 98 or 99 rounds as well.

It's the only one I've ever found loaded backward. I think it might have an issue feeding correctly from the magazine...
Not if its an HK! Just put it in the mag backwards.

Magnum,
In the northeast I've seen Winchester White Box bulk packs for .45 ACP, 9mm, .380 ACP and .38 special.

The box containing 100 rounds of .45 ACP went for about $20. The other calibers were cheaper but I don't recall how much cheaper. Finding them is tough though. Either the local Wal Marts don't order them period, or the sell out quickly.

I've bought UMC in 38 special and .380 when they go on sale. I've bought multiple 50round boxes and saved the brass for reloading.

Good luck.

I got a letter from Winchester asking me to send them the bullet via UPS at my expense, and they would look into the issue. If they find they are at fault, they will compensate me for the value of the faulty ammo. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth, doesn't it?

They did mention if I wanted to call them, they would mail me out a prepaid UPS label. Why not just send the label in the first place?!? Is it better to waste more time on this for a check from Winchester for 15 cents, or to have a bullet seated backwards as a metaphor for their customer service techniques?

I've shot tons of the Winchester white box stuff from Wal-mart in .45acp, and I love it. Never had any problems. I keep thinking I'll get into reloading, but these kinds of ammo deals keep me from it.

Magnum, I don't know where in Jersey you are, but the Walmart in East Stroudsburg Pa (just off rte 80 about 2 miles into Pa) usually has the .45acp bulks for $19.95. I've only been there once since I got my 1911 in july when they were out of it. Not bad stuff at all. Cheers,
SHawn

Strolling by the sporting goods counter in my local Wally-World last night, I noticed that they also have the WWB value pack in .380

Since I don't have a .380, didn't check the price. Based on the other WWB ammo I have tried, should be at least a reasonable quality range round.
