Ok so the local Sports Authority has these 1300s on sale for 199. And since I've been thinking about getting another shotgun for the wife :neener: it got my attention. So what's everyones thoughts on these? What's the price on chokes for them too, only seems to come with one :(

It's not an 870, but it's a good shotgun. Our friend Cameron Lamont put over 20K rounds through one recently.

Good price...

I shot skeet with one last fall. Nice gun. Unfortunately none of my local dealers stock 1300s or I would have one of my own by now. As it is I'll probably buy an 870 since everybody stocks those and they have more dealer support.

Obviously, Blain, the 870. There's 6 of them here and zero M-14s.

Though, if by wild mischance I had to play soldier again, I'd want an M-14.

An M-1A is expensive nostalgia. And it has little use other than as the finest battle implement yet devised. I stay out of firefights these days(G)...

Well, Dave, what if one day you actually have to say, "Molon Labe..."?

Would you agree that 870 = 1-100 yrd work and M14 = 100+ yrd work?

The 1300 is the shotgun i like best. Some guys like the fast action some don't,but it's the only one that cycles as fast as it do's.Mossberg chokes will interchange also. The magazine tube retainer is stupid, once i got mine out i threw it away just watch out for the recoil from the spring when taking off the cap,if you do so.Also It has no dimples"to remove" in the mag tube like a 870 if you want to add a magazine extention tube.
It's hard to say if this would be the one you would like best, but thats a good price...

We're kinda OT here, Blain. I have something that works out to the horizon, but it's not an M1A.

Re the 1300's speed, the 3 gun folks,if they use a pump at all, go for the 870. If the 1300 offered an advantage to folks who obsess over knocking .25 seconds off a 5 shot exercise, they'd use it.

The 1300 is a nice shotgun, and well worth $199.

I'm on my second 1300. My first was a 'Black Shadow', and it saw plenty of service hunting doves and clays. Great shotgun.
Should have never sold it
:banghead:
My grandfather gave me his, though, about 3 years ago. Brand new wood stock 1300. I just put a 22" barrel on it for home defense. It cost less then a new shotgun, so I've essentially got two guns for the price of 1 1/2....
I've loved mine, great gun with a smooth action.
That said, the Remington 870 has alot more options and accessories available in the aftermarket. If its your only shotgun, go for an 870. If you're looking for a good pumpgun for clays and hunting and are not worried about versatility, get the Winchester Black Shadow 1300.
