I posted this in another forum but thought I'd ask here too. I am going pig hunting next month and it is slug only at this location.I am thinking about lending my Winchester 1300 Defender to my son inlaw to come with me.I see it is a smooth barrel and no choke so can slugs be used in it? Not a great a hunting gun but I would love to have the kid come along so if it can work out .Other wise he will be a observer. Thanks guys for any help.

I have killed alot of deer with a smooth bore barrel and foster type slugs. I don't see why it wouldn't work out well for 50-60 yard shots.

Yep. Buy some 5 packs of various slugs and try them out to find the tightest grouping. THEN have your SIL shoot some to familiarize himself.
