I just picked up one chambered in .35 Winchester. Can anyone help with ammo? They currently manufacture .35 Remmington, .35 Whelan, .348 Winchester, .356 Winchester. Will any of these work out of the box or will I have to make cases? Not really planning on shooting it but would like to know.

Thanks

The 1905 was chambered for .35WSL (winchester self loading), not the standard .35 winchester. The .35WSL was only in production for 2 years when it was made obsolete by the .351WSL, and the modle 1907. Cases and ammo are scarce for either, but you may be able to turn up something with a google search. As far as ballistics are concerned, The .35WSL is like a traditionally loaded .357mag, wheras the .35win is closer to .35whelan ballistics.

Sunray thinks you have a .35 Winchester 1895 lever action.
Cmb says you have a 1905 model .35 Winchester SELF LOADING.

If the latter, Buffalo Arms has ammunition, brass, bullets and dies.

You will not be pleased by the prices but this is all low production stuff and they don't sell much to spread their costs around. Just part of buying a neat old rifle that is long obsolete. I understand it is possible to do some improvising on dies and bullets if you are an experienced handloader. You could even make your own brass on a small lathe, probably out of .357 Magnum.
