hi, i have the opportunity to buy a winchester 670A 30-06 from a friend of mine.

i dont know much about these rifles. the rifle is in great shape. i have a few questions:

are they hunting accurate?

hows the quality( other than the stock)?

whats a good used price. my freinds asking $300 with scope.

thanks fellow thr members. lots of knowledge on this site. :)

The metal parts are all the same as a standard model 70, just with a cheaper stock. I think those were blind magazines. It should shoot just as well as any other Winchester from that era if you don't care about the stock.

If it has a decent scope that is probably a fair price. But there are lots of brand new rifles being made now that sell in the $300-$350 range that will most likely outshoot it by a wide margin.

My son had one it was very accurate. I believe they had hammer forged barrels. Contrary to JMR40's assertion, I don't believe there is much that will out shoot it by a wide margin.

The fact that its a plain jane version of the model 70 with a blind magazine, dosen't mean its not a shooter. It means you'll probably get a great price on a great gun, like most post 64 model 70's, because people read more than they shoot and BS flows like water on the internet.
