How much would a Winchester 70 XTR in .308 in good condition (only a few minor scratches) go for. It has a Monte Carlo glazed walnut stock, blued metal, a generic 3-9X40mm scope and leather sling. I think it was produced in the late 1970's/early 1980's. It has iron sights. Thanks.

i love my M70 XTR Fweight in .308 shoots like a dream!!! paid 500 for a NIB (literally still had the orignal trigger hang tag) the Jan.(like 3 months) before winchester closed the doors on the model 70.

The easiest way to get an estimate on firearms values, is to look at the completed auctions on gun broker. Try to find a rifle that best matches the one you have. Be sure you are looking at auctions where the gun actually sold, because some people ask way more than they are worth hoping to make a killing.

My Blue Book is a few years old, but it lists a model 70 xtr in 100% at $435, add $34 for the iron sights and it does not list a premium for a featherweight variety. Since my book is not new I would suspect current prices to be slightly higher.

How do I find completed auctions? I can find auctions in progress, but not completed auctions. Also, it is not a featherweight. Thanks.

You will have to register to look at the completed auctions. Its free so its not a big deal.

Then look right above where the items are listed. Next to "Show only" (left side) you will see a popdown menu. Click the down arrow and choose "completed auctions" then click the go button.

You can also choose to list the auctions using the "sort by" (on the right hand side). Choose "highest number of bids first". This will list the rifles that were most likely to have sold at the top of the list. Then you won't have to sort through all the zero bid listings.

I didn't see any 308s listed that had already sold, similar to the one you are describing, but in most cases caliber has little affect on price.

You can also check out aucionarms for completed listings. Pretty much the same setup as gunbroker only you won't have to register to see completed listings.
