Years ago, I shot WW 748 in a National Match M1-A. I used military cases, WW primers, and (the then) Sierra 168 gr International bullet. (now MK). It was the gun's preferred load and shot under 1 MOA reliably. It seems to me, IIRC, that the load was about 44 grains or so, but then you will have to work up a load for your gun.

If you are looking for a powder to do double duty, it should be fine in the .223, too.

reloader 15 is another good one to try.

I just ordered a pound of that and 2 pounds of Varget from Powder valley.

W748 works fine in 308. About 40 gn under a 168gn SMK will get you about 2500 fps in a military case, 42gn under a 150gn FMJ.

W748 is very close to BL-C(2), which is just a more uniform version of WC846 - the standard military ball powder used in 5.56x45 and 7.62x51 (along with WC844). 25.5 gn of W748 for a 55gn M193 FMJ in a military case, about 24.5 for a 62gn M855.

As always, start with reduced loads and work you way up. The loads given are for military brass. Commercial brass has more volume and can be loaded slightly hotter.

Ramshot tac will give about 50-75 fps less for the same pressure.
