Helped a friend replace a broken firing pin in his Cowboy Commemorative model 94. The original firing pin is a solid thick pin front to rear same diameter. The first pin ordered was a pre '64 pin from SARCO- diameter was the same but the tip was too long and the lever cut was wrong. Ordered a new pin from Brownells. The cuts in the pin are different and the pin is a skeletonized version- by that I mean the diameter is right just before the tip and at the rear of the pin but is much thinner at the center. I assume this was done to cut weight and thereby lock time. It seems to work properly on primed empty cases and needs to be test fired with full power loads. Any input would be appreciated. Is this the correct pin?

Howdy Kimbernut,

Since this one has laid here for a couple days without a response, I'm gonna go ahead and move it to the rifle forum. It'll have a better chance of
gettin' attention from somebody who knows the answer.

Luck!

Thanks Tuner!and howdy yourself,

When I didn't see a response all day yesterday I called Brownells and got their input which was as I suspected. Apparently there have been many pin design changes along the way. This new pin is made to fit all the post '64 models.Should make it to the range this weekend for test firing this one and an Israeli FN K98 with a new Mojo rear sight in 7.62 NATO.
'Preciate your help here and all over the forum. Still looking for that 1911 book. Thanks again! kimbernut
