I looking at purchasing a Winchester 94 in 30-30. It was manufactured in 1968, but is in very good condition. A little wear in the bluing and a few minor nicks and scratches. I'd put it at about 90 - 95%. I'm thinking of offering $270, and have a budget of up to $350. Is that range pretty acceptable, or can I find this gun for less? Thanks.

The big price hikes that hit right after USRAC closed seem to have fallen off, at least when it comes to the standard .30-30 '94's. But that said if it's in good condition I'd get it. The post-64 '94's are still fine rifles.

Remember they made 6 plus million of these. For this price it would have to be a pre 64..........Essex

I bought one built in 1976 that has some dings and scratches in the stock, a little discoloration/stains on the receiver, and a little bit of the bluing worn around the muzzle. However, the bore is in excellent shape and the action is tight. Paid $275 for it a few months ago.

My dad bought one brand new in '68 for $49.99 in 30-30. The best $50.00 he ever spent. I wish I would have gotten it when he died in '79 along with the rest of his guns but my mom and I had issues and I never got any of them. It is long gone including 3 1897 Win, Ruger Single Six(old style), and 22 bolt rifle. The ones I wish I really had were the 97's, they belonged to my grandfather. So remember fathers, if you want your guns to go to your sons or daughters for sure, put it in your will. Things can and do happen after you die over which you have no control.

I was at a gun show a month or so ago and the beater 94s in 30-30 were around $350. For one 90-95% (like the 94AE I picked up in a pawn shop a year ago for $160) were $400-$475.

I'd say $270 is low in today's market. Not that today's market makes that much sense. If someone buys Winchester and they start making them again next year (even in Brazil) your $270 gun might be worth $160 again.

Then again, it might not matter. I could turn a handsome profit on mine but it ain't going nowhere.
