I've recently tried Winchester's AutoComp powder in the revolver. My pet for a long time has been Winchester 231 but its been scarce lately, so I've tried to duplicate my performance with various powders. I've used Hodgdon's HP-38 (identical to 231, I believe) IMR SR-4756 and now AutoComp.

AutoComp was developed especially for autoloaders, but my initial tests show it working well in my revolvers.

Anybody else try it?

I've used it to reload for my Ruger LCR. I found that I had better results when using the higher end loads with Autocomp. Got better Standard Deviations toward the higher end. Made for good loads comparable to carry ammo. I use other powders if I want a lighter load.

I have tried AutoComp in 9mm with 115 gr JHP and 124 gr LRN. 45 Colt with 255 gr Keith. 357 Mag with 158 gr LSWC. 38 Spl with 148 gr WC. I didn't have a bad load with any. My favorite is the 38 wadcutter.

Here is some data I've accumulated in my revolvers:

The first two are .45 ACP out of a 4" barrel revolver, the next two are .357 Magnum from a 6" barrel revolver. Both revolvers have low round counts through them.

I'm new to the game and AutoComp was available so that's what I started working with.

Upon previewing this post, I noticed things ran together when copied and pasted, if anything is unclear, ask and I will explain

I experienced no issues with these loads, your results may vary.
