I searched THR and archived TFL threads, and a couple of other sites, but came up dry. I'm hoping one of the more knowledgeable members can either provide some info or point me toward a good site.

A friend showed me a rifle and wanted to know some basic info. Year of mfg (OK, later in this post I think I've got that one narrowed down :D ), number produced, appeox. value, anything else that "pops up."

The rifle is a Winchester Model 94 NRA Centennial Musket, .30-30 caliber, ser. # NRA44xxx. Markings include "NRA Centennial Musket," "1871 - 1971," and an NRA medallion is inset into the right side of the stock.

The musket is mint (unfired), in its original box & liner. My friend recalls purchasing it a long time ago, NIB, and has never fired it. It is a beautiful rifle.

Due to the dates noted for the centennial edition, I am willing to guess :what: the rifle was produced in 1971. Unfortunately, that's all I know (and this may not even be exactly correct; strange things happen ...).

Now, I await the collective wisdom of THR; y'all haven't let me down, yet!

Go to WWW.USRAC.COM and call the customer service number. There is a guy there who'll tell you anything you want to know about any Winchester serial number ever made.

I used to have a Winchester retail catalog that showed this model. Seems like it was about 1972 vintage, as was my catalog, and was produced as a limited run for that year. Pretty ungainly-looking with the full musket stock and long barrel.

My brother and I each own consecutively s/n'd Winchester Centennial 66 models, NIB. Our father has the carbine model of the same. They are all very impressive in the box, aren't they?

I'm certain USRAC or perhaps George Madis can tell you the specifics on it.
Mr. Madis is one of the, if not the authority on Winchesters.

Regards,
Rabbit.
