I believe I read in a recent post that all Model 12s were takedown models.

Can anyone verify this?

I just came across an online sale of an alleged 12 that is a solid frame.

A solid frame version of the Winchester M12 was made from 1949 to 1954 and the correct name and model number would be a Model 25.

Both the riot and the heavy duck that I have are take down. However I have handled two lightweight M12's in local shops that I don't believe were take down. If they were take down, the take down system was different from the standard Model 12.

IIRC the featherweight model 12s are still a takedown, just not the same system. They only made the featherweights for a couple of years so they don't show up often.

The Featherweight Model 12's are 'takedown' in the sense if you unscrew the magazine cap, the barrel comes off like an 870 Remmy or something.
But the mag tube stays on the receiver.

They are NOT takedowns in the sense of seperating in the middle like a Model 12, leaving you with a barrel, forearm, and mag tube, and a stock & receiver of near equal lengths.
