I recently saw a Winchester Model 53 and I liked the look of it. I tried to find out about the 53 on google but there isnt much that I could find. Anyone know much about this rifle?
The Model 53 was made from 1924 until 1932. It was a lever-action rifle serial numbered within the range of the Model 92. The rifle was chambered in several calibers, including .25-20 WCF, .32-20 WCF or .44-40 WCF. My source shows that 24,916 were made before the rifle was discontinued.
About $700-$900 for the Brownings and you still see a lot of them NIB. Think I paid $550 for mine but that was several years ago. Great rifles, traditional action, no rebounding hammer and beautifully figured walnut. I'd wager the originals run a lot higher, probably double for a nice one.
here is my win 53 in 44-40,a nice light weight carry rifle. they are alittle pricey, but well worth it to me,i now have five 44-40,s. a single shot sharps,a rem pump and now three lever actions. eastbank.
