I am currently disassembling the bolt on a Winchester 94. I have run into a problem removing a pin.

The ejector stop pin holds the ejector spring in place. It goes through the ejector hole.
I have been unable to get this out with a 1/16 punch.

Looking closely at the bolt and pin, it appears when this was first assembled back in 1908 the pin was put into the ejector hole and some machining had been done. On both sides of the ejector hole the pin is perfectly flush with the bolt. I could best describe it as it looks like it was filed smooth with the bold. I have not seen this on any other pin that I have removed. This is the last pin to remove in the disassembly of the firearm.

Any ideas on how I can get this pin out? Does it matter what side of the bolt I attempt the removal process from.

Thanks for any help that can be provided

I've never taken that pin out of mine - a newer one from the 50s. On another firearm, I wanted to get a pin out - from the 40s - eventually I had to be willing to just hit it harder to get the pin to start moving. I probably heated it with a blow dryer 10 times over a week or so, but I still just had to hit it really good with a proper punch, harder than I wanted to that's for sure.

Are you sure you really want to take that pin out? If nobody else knows if the direction matters, I have a manual somewhere I can see if I can find it.

Thanks much for the information. I got the pin out. I am posting another thread, on removing the firing pin. It is not coming out.

As to answering your question on removing the the pin. The firearm has not seen maintenance in years, probably decades. When I received it, the lever action functioned with extreme difficulty, close to calling it inoperable. The hammer and trigger also were nearly impossible to get to function.

Again, thanks for your help.
