Some of you may remember a sawed-off Ithaca I built a few years ago. I decided to add another SBS and wanted to make one out of my favorite pump shotgun - the Winchester Model 12. I found this original Winchester with a 30" inch, full choke barrel and decided to cut it down.

I haven't seen any done like this, probably because it was a chore to do. To get the shotgun as short as possible, I had to section and re-weld the magazine tube, leaving enough room for the action to work and the tube to assemble and disassemble with the lock pin in the front. It's no longer an easy take down, since the slide won't go far enough to clear the action when the tube is unlocked, I have to remove the magazine band, but I rarely take one down anyway except for cleaning, so that isn't a big deal to me. Once the magazine was sectioned, we measured the barrel and had it cut and the bead reinstalled by good local gunsmith.

What I ended up with was a very fast pointing Model 12 that still holds 5 shells and is as short as I could make it - about 14" long now. I love the classic look of the worn steel finish and the walnut. It should make a good companion for my sawed-off.
