I'm new to the forums and am looking for a second opinion. I have the opportunity to pick up a barely used Winchester Super X2 Sporting Signature Red for $600 out the door. The gun store owner is an experienced shooter himself and offered not only to take me shooting with it before I buy it (tomorrow), but also to take me over to his skeet club on Mondays to get some more experience. From the research I've done online, this seems like a good gun and the price seems right. Like I said, he claims it's practically out of the box. I'm not getting ripped off am I? Thanks.

Edit: These are the reviews I found-

I'm not up to the mark on the price, but the X2 has many happy owners. Some of the top SC shooters use them.

So shoot it and see how it works for you.

That is worth quite a bit right there. I'd buy the gun just for that.

That's how I feel too. I had my heart set on the Browning Gold and was planning on going elsewhere to find it, but I'm very close to buying this X2 to get those opportunities. I just didn't want to end up with a piece of junk.

Jeff,
Just wanted to let you know I just ordered one of these but with the Walnut stock.Comes with 5 choke tubes, etc. In fact had 3 other guns on the same order for a raffle at our club. The Winchester you could get for 600.00 to 625.00 plus tax NEW in the box.The red would have been the same price.
I have heard these are nice guns.I wanted to get a Browning or two for our auction but they are so costly but good.I was happy to hear the Quality this Winchester had like the Browning.I was even happier about the price for the Winchester!
Good luck! I guess him going out with you is worth alot!
Oh!Warrenty transfer to second owner?on the used one!
Good Luck!

Well, I put $150 down and have two-weeks to go before bringing this beauty into my arsenal. Thanks for all your feedback.

When I bring this on the plane with me, I will need a crushproof case for it. My question is - can it be a breakdown case or is that bad for semi-automatics?

How many variations are there for the Super X2?

Which would be the best for defensive use or possibly 3 Gun?

I shot a "turkey gun" version a few years ago and really liked the basic gun. I'm just not fond of the short 3 shell mag in that model though.
