Hey all,

Is there a place that sells a mag extension for the Super X2 shotgun line that will bring the capacity up to 8+1 like the Practical model? I didn't see one advertised on Winchester's page and I thought that some company out there would maybe offer such a thing.
The reason I ask is because some people cannot afford to have one gun especially set up for competition. If you could add the 8+1 mag extension to a standard Super X2, you would just about have yourself a competition gun without buying a seperate shotgun. It may not be EXACTLY like the Super X2 Practical, but it would be good enough for a beginner and would take him a long way down the road before being forced to move up.
Can this be done to a stock X2 3 inch or is it a totally dumb idea? What do you think?

I don't know that the magazine on the X2 can be extended... if you look at the photo below, it looks to me that the mag tube is actually made longer on the extended models, rather than being a screw-on addition. The Winchester Web site also talks about an extended tube, rather than an add-on component. I guess you'd better e-mail or telephone Winchester to ask them...

Anyone have a definite answer to this? It's something I'ver wondered about as well.

The extended magazine is available in their parts list.

I would call their customer service before ordering and installing it.

I have the opposite problem, I want to be able to limit the capacity of my Practical to 3 shells for hunting. I've been told I can just use a dowell, but am not sure exactly how to go about it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Dizos, take the barrel off and leave the forend off. Take the mag spring out but leave the follower in the tube. Insert 2 shells in the tube and measure the distance from the follower to the end of the mag tube. Cut a dowel to that length minus 1/2" and install it with the spring and cap and test to see if you can get both shells in. If you can great, if not trim 1/4" or so off of the dowel and test until it works. If you use 3" shells you will be fine with either 3" or 2 3/4" shells. If you use 2 3/4" shells you will not be able to get the second 3" shell in the magazine. BTW, do not use the bolt to clear the shells from the magazine, push the shell latches with your fingers and clear them that way, it is safer. Also use a plastic dowel, or piece of PVC or something that will not hold moisture for your plug.

Thank you for the advice. I will let you know how it goes!

Why would it be dangerous to clear shells with the bolt when the plug is in place?

Thanks,

Dizos

I meant not to clear them from the measuring operation and testing operation with the bolt. You will have the shells sitting on top of the bolt with no barrel on the gun, there are sharp corners and all sorts of things that just are not healthy for live shotshells that are not fully chambered in a barrel. When your plug is installed and the gun is together it operates exactly like it did before, only with limited mag capacity.
