Winchester W244?

I was looking at some handgun data on the Hodgdon Load Data Site and saw listings for W244. I looked at the powder web sites and I see nothing about 244. Anyone hear anything about a new powder under the Winchester banner?

Anyone? I wrote Winchester /Hodgdon /IMR back when I made this post but no reply yet. That's unusual for them.

Hodgdon has a safety data sheet for it.

Neither have I and sadly still no response from Hodgdon.

Its an OEM POWDER (original equipment manufacturer). It may have been used in factory ammo for years? Now Hodgdon has made the surplus available to the public? My guess.

There is a data sheet dated 2011 with it on. So its not new.

Would be nice to hear from Hodgdon.

One thing I have noticed is that hodgdon lists data a good year before the power hits the shelf, look at imr unequal, news of this and data came out around November 2016 still not released, call hodgdon was told release will be possibly early 2018 ,

I was informed W244 will not be out until after the first of the year so it looks like you are correct Jo Jo.

It also looks like W244 is a pistol powder and not a shotgun powder that is also used in handgun applications. (like W572)
