Took the 7.62 Carcano to the Saukville range today and things went fairly well. 1 3/4" 3 shot 100 yard group... But I digress. Out of a box of 20 123 grain FMJ's, I had two rounds with rather large bulges on the case neck that for lack of a better analogy looked like rear ends.(unfired) Also had some problems with extraction.(Wolf steel case isn't that bad.) But the bulges really bother me, it's approximately 1.5 mm. You would think QC would pick up on something like that. Oh well, looks like it's back to Federal/Wolf.

I've had a few problems with the white box ammo. Everything from not chambering to non-fires/squibs. I tend to stay away from it. I have had a few ppl buy it for me (relatives, not knowing what to get for one occasion or another...) and have started weighing the rounds. I tend to stick to the higher quality Winchester and my "home-rolled" stuff.

On the other side, I've had nothing but good luck with WWB, including some surprisingly accurate .223 "bulk boxes" of 50 grain, and some surprisingly accurate 9mm 115 grain boxes FMJ.

As with most bulk-produced things, quality varies quite a bit; lots of factors involved.

Yeah, I never had a problem with the .223 or .45 ACP....Hell, I've gone through quite a few 100 round boxes of .45. That's why this surprised me so much.

WWB is my last line of defense from buying Wolf for the 45. :D

I have had very good luck with WWB. It does seem a little dirtier then other brands but I have no complaints considering the price.

I have never seen anything that bad come out of a WWB. We all play the odds with any brand of ammo. Personally, considering the price, I would be willing to cut them some slack.

Eh, send them or photos of them in to Winchester. It's always good for manufacturers to know of feild failures plus they'll probably will send you a fresh box of ammo for your troubles

WWB seems decent, but I've had lots of feeding issues with it in various 1911s. A large part is undoubtedly magazines/springs/oil/etc, but I suspect a number of the malfunctions may be related to the ammo. The stuff is frequently pretty well beaten up...

Odd. OTOH, I've never had anything but lousy performance from almost any Winchester ammo in long guns, with the frequent exception being the CX rounds in .243. (BTW; the CX1 may claim it's for small critters, but it still makes a huge exit wound.)

Handgun White Box, OTOH, I go through by the hundreds with no issues. Accuracy may not be the best, but at 10-15yds, practicing draws and movement, how would I be able to tell?
