* Winchester Wildcat Target/Varmint VS Savage Mark II BTVS Bolt Action Rifle .22LR

I am looking to buy a new .22 witch one do you think is the best gun out of the two? and y? most of the time ill be shoting from 50-75 yards, (i got a .22 mag (Marlin Model 925) right now, but it makes a little bit too much of a mess...of the rabbits i hunt.

The new Wildcat Target/Varmint rifle has a highly accurate, heavy .866" diameter bull barrel. The receiver is drilled and tapped for bases, as well as grooved for mounting a scope. While many of today’s smallbore rifles are clunky little plinkers, the Target/Varmint has the look and feel of a full-size hunting rifle, complete with an adjustable trigger and dual front steel swivel studs. The pinpoint accuracy of the Wildcat Target/Varmint will make a lasting impression from the very first shot. One 5-round and three 10-round magazines are included

Well my suggestion is to get the savage but bear in mind that i havent tried the winchester so i have no experience with it...

But

I do own the savage, exactly the same except that it is blued. I bought a few extra 10 round mags, and it is the only minute of squirrel head @ 125yds .22 I have ever shot.

The savage looks great, shoots comfortably from all posistions and is very very accurate, oh and btw, the accutrigger rocks!!!

Good luck and happy shooting

Savage

I would also say savage, I have the same rifle, blued, that I bought at Dick's Sporting Goods for $299 as a combo with a Simmons 3-9x40. It will easily and consistently put Wolf 40gr. match ammo into one hole at 50-75yds, and will put el cheapo Rem. golden bullet stuff into well under half an inch at those ranges. And all I did was shoot it off of a bipod, no sandbags or anything. My friend bought the same rifle at the same time as me as it was on sale, and his shoots the same way, absolute tack driver. These guns are as said above, minute of squirrel head out to at least 125yds.The thumb hole stock is also very comfortable. My very built up 10/22 couldn't even hope to give these savages a run for their money.

The only other .22 I've seen shoot as consistently good as these savages is a very pricey vintage anschutz target rifle that a local competition shooter uses, and that thing weighs like 14lbs, so not too friendly of a rabbit gun.

A good friend of mine has a winchester wildcat (standard version) and he says its just as accurate as his cz452.

I'll cast a vote for the Wildcat. About as accurate out of the box as you can get without spending a grand. Nice adjustable trigger.
