I've been looking for an older 30 inch Full choke 12 guage Wingmaster barrel (or gun). I wanted to have it cut to 28 inches so I could have a Cylinder barrel. Since there seem to be more 28 inch modified barrels out there, I've been wondering if the Wingmaster barrels (28 inch modifieds) take well to being reamed out to Skeet or Cylinder bore. I'm not looking to install variable choke tubes, but just have the barrel adjusted to Skeet or Cylinder or even IC. I guess I'm curious, too, if they take well to this since, I remember years ago a class action suit against these Wingmaster barrels for weaknesses. ???
Thanks,

A Wingmaster barrel will be fine opening the choke. That BS lawsuit was supposedly due to heavy lettering rollmarking in the area ahead of the forcing cone. The results were sealed as I recall. You do not have to be wrong to settle. I settled on one suit because it would cost as much as the settlement just to go to court with the right expert witnesses, and there is always a chance you might lose anyway. In this day and age i wouldn't trust a jury as far as i could throw the courthouse.

There are so many 870 barrels out there in all configurations, chokes, length of barrel and gauges why dont you just buy the set up you want? If you cut of the end of the barrel with the choke restiction you will have a cyl bore but there many many barrels out there that would meet you need. I dont mean to tell you what to do but it seems like an unnecessary expense.
