I have a 4" Redhawk in .45 Colt. Love it. Been thinking that a .357 Rehawk would be awesome. Now I know they made some way back when, but I mean an updated version. I would want a 4" barrel and an 8 shot cylinder. If S&W can do 8 in an N frame, then 8 should be no problem in the Redhawk. 9 might even be possible. Now to bring the weight down a bit, a more tappered profile on the barrel might be a good thing. With a .45, .429, or .41 bore, there is a lot of metal there. With .357, there would be a lot more, unless slimmed down a bit.
Thoughts anyone?

Oh, while they are at it, a 5 shot .45 Colt GP100 would be awesome too. :)

Wish they would chamber for .41 mag. But a .357 would be nice with 8 rd.

I used to have a Redhawk in .357. I thought it was too heavy to carry for a .357. I do think a 4" would be interesting, but isn't that more like the GP-100? I finally settled on an 6" 686.

Gladius, I could settle for a 9 shot .357 Alaskan. :D

Rockhunting, the big difference would be the capacity over a GP100. Yes the original Redhawk .357 was a 6 shooter, which is why in this size gun it never caught on, and I guess, us revolver guys being the tradiionalist that we are, an 8 or 9 shot version probably would not have sold well back then either.
But in the 21st century, I think it would. Boring 2 or 3 more holes in the cylinder and tappering the barrel would help some with the weight. I never handled an original .357 Redhawk, but based on the weight of my .45, I imagine it would feel like a couple of bricks and have almost no recoil.

IIRC I read in a gunzine that Ruger would do special runs of their revolvers if they could get at least a 2,000 unit order. Perhaps if you were to contact Lipsey or some other jobber they might be willing to put in such a special order.

Perhaps if you could get a petition going asking for a special run they might do it. Especially if each person were willing to put up a deposit!
