Bushmaster 20" 22lr, anyone?

One other thing, anybody who likes AR15s should run, not walk to the nearest internet connection and order a dedicated .22 upper. It is by far the BEST gun money I have ever spent. I went with the DPMS unit and have had 100% functioning on any Bushmaster lower.

Has anyone ever purchased the Bushmaster 20" 22lr upper? Is it vaporware? Somehow I have never seen a post with anyone who actually owns one talking about how to maintain it, cleaning, how reliable & accurate, etc) I should just take the plunge. I too keep looking at the price of .223 and wind up taking the Mosin instead.

No change for me in quantity of center-fire rounds shot every month. I simply switched to Wolf, at least until the brass cased stuff comes down to reasonable price levels.

Heck ya....in fact the last couple times Ive gone to the range Ive brought about three weapons chambered in .22lr and maybe only one centerfire.

Two scoped .22 rifles and one Ruger 22/45 with a handfull of reactive targets and cheap ammo makes for a good time. But I usually have atleast one centerfire thats either new or needs shooting so I let it tag along.

.22 ammo on hand - right now about 2.5K rounds. Quite a few boxes of cheapy bulk ammo.....my Henry lever gun is stupid accurate with the cheapy Federals. My Ruger 22/45 *loves* the Remington Gold Bullets in bulk - zero failures to date. The only gun that doesnt like my bulk ammo is my Marlin model 60 - its a picky gun. About 1 failure per hundred rounds.

I haven't noticed much of an ammo price increase. My 223 is still about $100, 308 still about $150, 9mm still about $100. My regular .22's get shot as often as they ever did.

Yes. I've been shooting my CZ452FS and S&W 63 a lot more recently, also, I just ordered a Browning Buckmark Sporter rifle, and I'm planning on buying a Savage Mark II-FVT next month. I'm concerned that my centerfire rifles/pistols are starting to feel unloved....;)

nero(will start reloading when he buys a house in north florida....)

well, I have about 450 rounds of mil surp for my M1 Garand, thats a somewhat new gun for me, but I just picked up a ruger 10/22 today and a bulk pack of 550 rounds of federal

took the cheap 3-9 power scope off my .308 savage that came with the gun and mounted it on the ruger, shooting freehand at 25 yards at 3x mag I'm getting 1 1/2" ten shot groups fired somewhat rapidly. at 9x it shrinks to about an inch, but it could be smaller if I were to actually take my time.

just started getting into reloading too, haven't pruduced anything yet, still need to get about half of the equipment, but that'll have to wait until I get home from Afghanistan, spending what money I have now on ammo, gas, and my girl ( a bunch of that ammo gets used by her, I foot the bill for almost everything so she can direct her paychecks to getting a car, I'm so nice)

Actually been doing so , even before ammo prices went up. I'm on disabilty, and have a very tight budget. It helps that one of my .22s is also extremely accurate, so besides being cheap, its alot of fun to shoot (an accurate gun is more fun!). It allows me to practice alot more, and has improved my shooting with my other guns immensely. Last time I went to the range, that was the only gun I took.

I have always shot lots of rimfire, also shoot quite a bit of centerfire, although I do reload a bunch.I shoot factory ammo in my 5.56,9mm,380accp even though I have all the gear to reload,I spend my reloading time on .357,38,45,44,30-06,30-30,45-70 because that is where the big savings are.
My rimfire ammo stash is 5000rounds of three or four types of stuff I mostly use and another 1000rounds of all sorts of odds and ends.I would guess I shoot about 2000 rounds of rimfire a year. I shoot pretty much as I always have but I find myself buying larger lots of ammo when I run across a good deal. The hing that always hurts is when you get a great deal somewhere on a big lot of a type of ammo and you finially do shoot it up the price of new stuff will really shock you.
I bought a couple of cases of wolf MT that I think I paid $180 a case shipped.
Now that I am down to the dregs I see it is going to cost $270 +/- to replace. Kinda wish I had originally bought ten cases instead of 2.Same thing when I bought a bunch of south african 5.56 mil surp for 10.5 cents shipped each(2700rounds) I should have bought a truck load!

Nope. I've pretty much always been a Certifiable .22RF Junkie. More than half of my modest accumulation are .22s of one sort or another.

The last time I went to the range my .22 was the only one to go with me. Shot about 500 rounds. I have a reloader but .45 is the only caliber I'm presently reloading. I just haven't been inclined to buy supplies for other calibers lately. Myself i've been keeping about 1k rounds on hand. Win HV copper coated and CCI velocitors RN. I don't care much for HP's.
