I just can’t seem to disassociate Wolf from cheap Russian Tula. I bought WPA about 10 years ago for my AR and it was filthy and not powerful enough to cycle 20” barrel. EXTREMELY OVERPRICED!!!

Wolf is a brand used by an importer, so cartridges bearing that brand may be produced by a variety of sources. I have read that Wolf match target was made at various times by Nammo (Lapua, SK), RUAG (Geco, RWS), or others. Eley makes some good ammunition, but also builds to varying price points. They may have had extra capacity caused by Aguila moving from Eley-primed to their own fully integrated system a few years ago.

A few thoughts... if the Wolf brand is now a liability - manufacturers will quickly come up with another brand name... and if the ammo now being done by Eley is good quality stuff - word will get around and there will be a demand for the product - the opposite is also true.

These days, having a stock of the ammo you want is very satisfying... Those not in that position will either purchase what they need at market rates, make their own, or do without... Pretty simple....

Dang. I saw SK Rifle Match today, 500 for $100 and thought it was outrageous
Wow. Twenty cents each. Better be good stuff

Then again, if you’re in competition and shooting .1’s and .2’s maybe you’re good to go. With bacon at about $10 a pound, I’m not sure a dollar buys much of anything any more

Fortunately I bought several sleeves back between the last two ammo shortages

Back when our club shot CMP Rimfire Sporter, I used German Wolf and SK Standard Plus interchangeably. Same head stamp, same shooting as far as I could tell from prone/sitting/standing with a 7.5 lb rifle.

I salvaged a bunch of it after the Incident. Although wetted it is quite surefire but extraction is hard in a bolt action or revolver. So I am shooting it up in my Ace. The floating chamber blows it out, you bet.

My CZ 512 loves Wolf Match Target and Match Extra.

It transitioned from the ammunition made in Germany to that made by Eley successfully.

Wolf 22LR Match Target and Match Extra used to be made in Germany but now they are made in England by ELEY.

Wolf Match Target 40 gr LRN $94.95/500 with free shipping on $200+ orders ($12 flat rate for less than $200) - https://www.sgammo.com/product/wolf...tch-target-40-grain-lead-solid-ammo-made-eley

Wolf Match Extra 40 gr LRN $99.99/500 with free shipping on 10 boxes - https://www.targetsportsusa.com/wolf-match-extra-22-lr-ammo-40-grain-lrn-22xtra-p-868.aspx

Sorry for the drift. Although $0.20 per may be the right number these days, the vendor is important. SGAmmo is seems to be on the up and up

But be careful of Target Sports USA

Again, sorry for the drift. I have this tendency that if it is referenced here on The High Road it's safe. I happen to need a supply of 40 grain at 1050'ish fps. Might actually pay the price.

Carry on.
