Yep, that's a smart thing to do. I stock piled about 3k cases and heads as well as rifle primers last year. My Yugo doesn't mind .308 bullets so I have ~ 500 of those in reserve. :D I did the same thing in .223. The panic buying has inspired me to load up a thousand .223 and 7.62x39. It seems social unrest over proposition 8 is spreading. ;) Got to get ready for the zombies...:evil:
 
All of you can blame me. A couple years ago, when 7.62X39 was about $90 shipped per thousand, I figured, "boy... I guess I better get another AK". I swear that as SOON as I bought that gun (a Yugo folder), the price jumped to $80/500 - it was OVERNIGHT - I'm here to tell ya! Just that you know this is true, at that time, I passed up in a 5.45 Arsenal (really nice gun) for $500 because I wanted 'cheaper ammo' which would always be available - go figure. Now, I see 5.45 more available and cheaper. I did it - blame me.
 
I remember paying $85 shipped for wolf 7.62x39 from Cabelas back in like 2004 or something (approximately). Might've been around 03 sometime.
 
I buy Wolf 122gr JHP locally for 5.00 bucks a box. My Russian SKS and Ak shoot it beautifully.

I picked up 6,000 rounds today at 219.00/1000. I figured it was a okay price and I'm hoping that I don't feel I should have bought more sometime in the near future.
 
I posted a few days ago that the price at my local fun shop was $4.99 per 20. I bought them out a few days ago and went back today and the guy said..." back already?" I said "yep , need more ammo". I went to buy more and the price was raised by .50¢. I grab a couple boxes and took it to the counter to pay. The guy said... " You know, the last time you were here and bought all the ammo it was $4.99. No sooner than a half hour later after you left, the owner said to pull all the Wolf 7.62x39 ammo. and mark it up". The guy said to the owner that he didn't have any more left to pull off the shelves. I thought...WHEW! Glad I got it when it was cheaper. They knew nothing about the price increases.
 
I can't believe that people actually buy 7.62x39 in 20 round boxes. These guns aren't even fun with ammo bought in those limited quantities. My son and I don't even leave the house with our ak's without bringing at least 1000 rounds.

I figure it quite easily by going to the Sportsmansguide webpage, entering
a last name and a zip code. It then gives you the person's entire name and
their complete home address.

Who cares? Just ask and I'll tell you how much ammo I've bought recently. There's nothing wrong with buying ammo. I'm right now sitting next to 10,000 rounds that I have bought this past week if anyone wants to know. And I'm buying two guns this week, in case your keeping track.

i cant find it anywhere. the cheapest price locally is 275 plus tax for 1k of wolf. i was in a different gun store the other day, they wanted like 8 bucks a box for wolf.
 
The Academy general office mistakenly entered an extra zero when they ordered it weeks ago.

They ended up with about 480,000 rds, instead of the planned 48,000.
That explains the steep discounts. Nothing else does. They must have needed the cash.

The only reason that other retail stores charge loanshark prices for a single box is that so many buyers really don't care.
 
my local academy had them for 2.99 + tax a box of 20rnds. i only bought 3k + 1k from a friend who bought it for me.

those new prices are ridiculous. ***
 
i wish i had an academy around here, i would buy out the whole store for 2.69 a box. its 3 times that everywhere else
