I have a CZ 527 in 7.62x39. About one round in twenty of Wolf 154 gr sp misfires. Is there anything I can do to the rifle to alleviate this or should I switch to a different brand of ammo? I considered this my sort of shtf/survival hunting rifle, but not if it doesn't function reliably when I need it to. Thanks for any input.

You could increase the firing pin strength, or switch ammo. Wolf ammo in 7.62x39 has never really worked well for me, misfires being one of my main complaints. Misfires are potentially dangerous. If you're experiencing a 1:20 ratio, move on to another brand or change your spring weight ASAP.

Call CZ customer support and they'll send you an extra power firing pin spring ASAP that should cure your problem. I'm lucky the only misfires I have are when I use CCI primers, Those things are stupid hard:banghead:

Some ammo is just going to misfire once in awhile, could be the pin could be the weapon, not in total battery.

Need to fire some more and see if it is the pin. Do you replace it in the chamber and fire again?

What do the primer strikes look like on the ammo? Does the one that is struck that did not fire look different?:scrutiny:

Some have mentioned the firing pin is a problem and needs to be dry so powder does not cling, will not get dirty as fast:uhoh:

If your 527 is new you may want to strip the bolt and clean it. I bought mine slightly used and had a simular problem. I stripped the bolt cleaned out the gunk and no more misfires. The 'gunk' inside the bolt looked like a thick brown/red grease that had set up on the firing pin and spring. I hit it with GunScrubber and very lighty wiped it down with RemOil. Its been 2 years since I did this and ZERO problems since.

If it is the new WOLF CLASSIC boxed ammo I have had several - read that several misfires with it. It will not even fire with a retry - so your CZ is probably fine. If it is the older black boxed then the problem is most likely the milspec primers - I would try Barnaul x39 and see it it works - same price - IMO better ammo.

Thanks for the info, guys. I've been able to refire the misfired rounds. I'm going to try cleaning the bolt thoroughly then see what happens. I'm thinking it's mostly an ammo-quality problem with Wolf, since I also experience stiff cycling at times. I wish someone like S&B would make quality brass-cased hunting ammo for 7.62x39. Thanks again.

I have a cz carbine in x39 and I use Barnaul Brown Bear and have never had a misfire or any problem at all.
