Wolf shotshells made where

I recently bought some Wolf brand buckshot and slugs and on back of the box it says made in Germany. Hey that would be better than Russia.

Yes, it's made in Germany. But don't worry about the quality of Russian made ammo. I've fired thousands and thousands of Russian 7.62x39 and 9mm and have never had one misfire. Russian ammo is used all over the world in every place imaginable. You don't build up that kind of customer base with dud ammo. When Russian-made shotgun ammo comes out, I'll be among the first to buy it.

I wouldn't trust the quality of Russian SG ammo...

so I'll make a tough decision and volunteer on the R&D (research and developement) team for their shotshells... shooting tens of thousands of rounds until it's just perfect
I'll do that for the promotion, safety, and quality control of Russian shotshells.

I started shooting the Wolf buckshot a couple of weeks ago... it's great stuff. Out of a friend's Maverick 88, it patterns very well, and i couldn't beat the price ($1.99 a box) with a stick.

However, i had no idea that Wolf was making Slugs, as well. You must share with us where to get them

I bought a box of 250 rounds/ 25 boxes/ *10* shotshells in a box for $70
which looks like $2.80 per box. beat that
or 200 rds of S&B for $49 that's actually cheaper at 2.45/box

I don't really know for sure how that compares, but I can buy at this price all day. I either buy from Miwall while seeing the Oregon gun shows or drive up to their distributor in Salem and get some ammo. But overall I do not like the customer service or dealing with the people. More on that if anyone asks...

The only problem I have with their buckshot is the open shell. Unlike american made shotshells which has a plastic wrap/twist, WOLF has a thin, almost cardboard covering at the mouth of the shell. Not good in a moist atmosphere.

Nightwatch that's a good point...

I'm can be an experimental guy sometimes and now I got all these cheap shotshells so I think I'm going to do a little testing for you and whoever else...
I'm gonna dump some of these shotshells in a water bucket and then take 'em out and shoot them. If fact just to be fair I'll do it to all the different brands that I have so far - Wolf; S&B; and Federal.
I'll give more details of the shells later.
How long should I wait Nightwatch? 2 days? 4; or a week?

LOL - I wouldnt wait too long mrt. In fact, its not a great idea. You dont want a slowburn discharge happening. Taking a shot and it firing 7 seconds later.

We should just try to keep our ammo dry.

if i were to do testing of this sort, i'd invest in a n inexpensive 12 gauge single barrel, like an H&R. you can get these for 80 dollars at your local pawn shop. the sides of the reciever are flat, so you can chuck it up in a vise easily.


i'd chuck it up on a vise, bolted to your shooting table, tie a string to the trigger, and fire it that way.

you'll not have to Worry about blowing your face off, then.

Or you could just melt a block of fruit-canning grade parrafin wax and dip each round it front first. Wipe off the wax from the sides of the shell with a rag while it's still hot. Then you don't have to worry about water. You just have to worry about wax melting off and gumming up the mag tube. There are "paint-on' waterproofing agents you can get that aren't heat sensitive.

So Wolf buckshot does NOT have a full shot cup? That would disqualify it for me...

ok I pulled the shells out of the H2O...

these were the brands sitting in a pot of water for a day... yeah I think their "moist" by now.
Wolf 00 2 3/4
S&B 00 2 3/4; max dram
Federal bird shot 7 1/2; 3 dram
looking at them I can't tell any real difference. I did take my finger nail to the cardboard type covering on the Wolf stuff and scraped some of it up. Tried it with the others, but of course S&B has a plastic covering and Fed. has the wrap.
I the following days I'll shot the stuff up... I should be completed by the weekend.
