Won a Browning.

I won it in one of those "buy a calendar for $50 to support the National Wild Turkey Federation" things.
My number came up on December 6th and I picked it up on Christmas Eve, a Browning A-Bolt III Hunter in .308 and walnut stock.
I will go later this week and pick up a scope and some ammo.
Looking for scope suggestions and opinions on the rifle.
Not wanting to spend a lot of money on the scope setup, but I'd like something decent.
Vortex, Sig Sauer and Leupold are some I've been looking at.
Congrats on winning! Looks like you have it set up nicely,

Let us know how it shoots when you get a chance to take it out. :D

Stay safe.

What an awesome surprise win! Good for you man, a browning too. This is my A-Bolt II and I didn't have a ton to spend on a scope and went with a Luepold 3-9×50 for $250. It doesn't have fancy turrets, not sure about its tracking but I zeroed it at 100y and it's held and I can shoot 1 MOA with factory .270win.

Nice score! The A bolts are super nice, super smooth.

Looks like a good setup :)

I have that 6-18×44 scope, it is a good choice. I also have the Sig Buckmaster on a muzzle loader. Two different classes of scope You made the right choice between the two for that A-bolt. 🙂

Late to the show. Vortex are fine, the range I work at is a Distributor/Retailer. I can get them for just above cost, yet I am now on my 3rd Athlon. I still have an Athlon Argos BTR Gen2 in 8-34X56 mounted on a Savage Model 10. I sold off a Helos 6-24X56 to replace it with an Argos Gen2 BTR 10-40X56 SFF. Reason for the change is I am using this as a precision Bench scope shooting very small X-ring targets at fixed distances and the five dot reticle in the SFF with 1/8MOA adjustments is much more beneficial.

I had just a few minutes to give this a test run yesterday.
I put 5 shots on an 8" steel plate at 100 yards, so the bore sighted scope is pretty close.
I'll drag out my lead sled and set up a paper target and see where I'm actually shooting.
I think I'll probably get a bipod for it too.
