Why?

I had 2 mags that would not feed or Chamber the 1st two rounds. One wouldn't feed the 1st 2 rounds (CMC POWER 10 ) and one would not feed the last round (Colt Tapered Lip Design)

I did the normal 3 point jam fixes, scraped the chamber mouth and opened the barrel link but discovered these mags still do the same thing if the gun is pointed down.

I called Springfield but since it works with "their" mags it's not a warranty issue so there is no option to return it to Springfield.

What am I missing?

Does the feedramp need opened more? This is a Ltwt Operator with a fully ramped barrel.

These mags all feed smoothly in my Loaded Model with a standard barrel

Help me figure this out so my head will stop hurting :banghead:

I assume your shooting a springfield 1911 and you are using mags from another gun for it

questions

are your mags G.I., Factory or what?

Before I grinded on my piece I would try a couple different mags "new mags" until I could conclude the problem is the guns not the mags!

Sage advice. Don't start by filing on the most expensive piece (the frame). Repair or replace the cheap parts first.

10 round magazines for 1911s are often of questionable reliability. While some folks like CMC magazines, I have never had good luck with them. If I were you, I would try a Wilson Combat magazine long before I started modifying my gun.

Hey!

Thought I was on everyone's ignore list or something :D

I ditched the 10round mags, but one other problem mag was a Colt tapered feed mag.

Since then I replaced the extractor, the factory was shorter, the hook closer to the breechface than spec. Running 7 & 8 round mags I'm good.
