Uggh... I don't like either of those comparisons

I prefer Pachmayer classic rubber grips on revolvers mainly because they don't slip and are more comfortable when shooing magnums. I do like the look of wood grips and will swap back to wood to enjoy the aesthetics. No reason to not use the advantages of the rubber grips when shooting and enjoying the wood grips when when showing it off.

As a few others have said, Its about fit, not material.
The rubber K-Frame Houge monogrip fits my hand like a glove. I cant imagine a better fitting grip for me. But by golly, those things are ugly!
Surely modern technology could provide a more attractive option.
I agree. I have very large hands and the Hogue rubber grips on my 357 gp fit me perfectly. I like the look of the old wood insert rubber grips that used to be stock from Ruger better. When I switched to the old style I found the joint of my middle finger is right up against the trigger guard and takes a beating. The rubber grips swing up further and keep my middle finger away from trigger guard. If I place my right hand a little lower on grip to avoid the trigger guard, I can't get my whole hand on the grip. Something like what "Tallboy" has might be the best bet for me.
