Does this include firearms no longer being made? *cough*intratec*cough*

Jennings/Raven/Stallard (Now Hi-Point Arms)

See them at the local gang banger hangout near you!

Swear to god, I was in a gun store the other day and 4 young men with urban dress and chromed & diamond plated tooth covers were excitedly jumping up and down over the Hi-Point .40 in the display case.....and yes, the one guy DID hold it sideways while another guy took a cell phone picture.

Quote: "Like, da*mmm, I kin git me a coupla footy fa tha same price that nine you gots!"

I cringed to see the sight.

No kidding! My brother in-law has an old tec-9 and it is a POS! Misfires every other round like clockwork. The magazine locks into place and then has to be pulled down about 1/8in or else you get feed problems. It might as well be a paper weight. He bought it from some 'thug' for $75.

I would take a knife to that gun fight any day!

Your kidding right? Their revolvers are worth their weight in gold and some of the best in production. The 10/22 is most likely the biggest selling 22LR ever built. Thier semi-auto pistols are not competition material but are reliable and sturdy.

I can't say much about thier shotguns since I have never fired one and I would take a remington over most of thier rifles.

I vote Jennings. I had a .380 jam-o-matic that wouldn't shoot one whole mag without screwing up. Someone stole it - hoped they needed it to defend their life with!

I would cast my vote for Century for the following reason:

A while ago a major overseas shipment of FAL parts kits came in to the US to go to various companies that resell parts kits, Century included. However, there was something wrong with them that made them appear to be non-ATF friendly. Century hurried up and sold all of their parts kits then ordered some more from one of their competitors and when these kits arrived Century turned them over to the BATFE. The BATFE yanked all remaining kits from that company to investigate them. Meanwhile, Century waited for another FAL kit shipment so they could raise their prices and supply a larger portion of the market. Based on business practices like this I will NEVER deal with Century again.

Go into #guns on GameSurge in IRC and you'll see a member's info line that goes something like this...
Intratec Tec9 - 9mm Luger FMJ semiautomatic with recoil supressor, shoulder strap, 2 - 35 round magazines.
I keep meaning to ask him if he's ever heard of stove pipes.

worst firearms

When it comes to American firearms I would have to say Savage, Harrington Richards, and Mossberg.

Worst to me implies not good at making firearms.

Why are we crucifying companies like Ruger or Century over their business practices?

Ruger makes a helluva gun, and Century is one of the cheapest makers of whatever variant they're selling, so any spottiness on their part is halfway forgiveable (I have a Century FAL that runs like a top, btw).

Worst to me would be Jennings/Bryco....based on quality and execution.

Someone mentioned Taurus...I can't think of a gun company that's come further from a bad start. I own 6 Taurus guns and all of them are superb runners, and a great value to boot.

Only gun I ever had a problem with was a Jennings. Firing pin would break after a few rounds. They set a replacement that broke after a few rounds.

I learned my lesson and got a Beretta.

Colt - based on my experience with a Mk IV Series 70 Government Model, when Colt produces a jammamatic POS, they do NOT repeat NOT honor their warranty. :fire:

Plus, they cost more - a LOT more - than Raven/Jennings/Bryco.

They also, in the name of political correctness, buggered up their AR15s by removing the bayonet lug, inserting a block in the lower, ship them with low cap mags, and moved to non-standard pins, at least in the rifles meant for sale to regular folks, not LEOs. (LEO rifles, while legal post-AWB, are actually "graymarket" and almost always show up with inflated price tags.)

Worst?

High Standard!

I had one of their .22 revolvers that was one of the worst weapons I ever shot... even the cylinder didn't line up with the barrel and I have a piece of ..22 mag casing in my wrist due to shaving at forcing cone when fired. I take particular joy in being the one that threw this particular piece of junk in the river!!!1

by the way crosscut i have looked at taurus, i have purchased taurus, i have shot taurus and i have sent THREE of their handguns back multiple times to
fix major problems. the first time shame on them, the second time shame on me. i was in the marines and the army, so i might have a inkling how a firearm should perform..............
