On the old MCRGO boards we once had a thread on worst guns ever. I am the not-so-proud owner of the one that won hands down: Phoenix Arms .22. It's been sitting broken on a shelf for a few years now..not worth the money to send in to have repaired. It's a gun shaped paperweight these days.

I was amazed by how many other people had them. Not a single happy customer in the bunch, either.

Jennings 9mm pistol that i own is junk.Jams every shot and the clip falls out every 10 shot or so...I wouldnt let anyone shoot it because its to unsafe now...I dont know what the heck im gonna do with it..O well

Mini 14, couldn't hit anything with it and high cap mags wouldn't work either. Never again!

I love these kinda threads - gives me a chance to rag on the bums at Ruger.

Both my 45LC Vaqueros have cylinder throat diameters of .450 to .4508 which is much too small most folks would agree. Causes bullets to be swaged down to the throat size which happens to be smaller than the bore size. Doesn't do much for accuracy.

What really ticks me off is the morons at Ruger won't admit that throat diameters of that size are too small - they're in spec according to Ruger. That tells me that they either 1) screwed the pooch and don't wanna admit it or 2) their engineers are bufoons.

So the worst gun(s) I've ever owned are two Ruger Vaqueros - and I'll never own another Ruger as long as I live until they fix the problem (which they won't) and will take every chance I get to run the bums down over it.

I've had some stinkers, but I think the one that I will call worst would be a brand new Marlin 1894S in .45 Colt. Pre cowboy frenzy, looked just like any other Marlin. But it was a lemon. Wouldn't feed much of anything and the first time I went shooting all I heard was click when the hammer went down.
This rifle had a chamber that was so grossly oversized that when the firing pin hit the primer it would drive the case, rim and all into the rear of the chamber.
I was so mad and disapointed I took it back from where I got it and got my trade in back.

Yep, you're right. It has a life time warranty. But I'm not convinced its worth the postage to send it in. I'd feel bad selling it to anyone. Like I said, it broke, I put it in its nifty little cardboard box, and there is rests. Maybe someday, I'll send it to be repaired..if the company is still in business. :)

It broke while I was cleaning it one day..the little deal the spring rests against snapped right off.

FEG SA-2000m

A single stack ak-47
I paid 200 for it . It wasnt crappy it i just wouldnt load hp rounds....:scrutiny:
Oh yeah the flash sup. shot off also :D Traded it straight up for a glock 21 :)

A Ruger Mk. II "Target."

Godawful heavy trigger
grips that weren't comfortable nor allowed the pistol to point naturally
regularly failed to fire,
And when it would have an FTF the extractor wouldn't work.

After I finally traded up to a new bullseye gun, I had to retrain myself to keep from anticipating the shot due to the Ruger's trigger.

Mine is a Lorcin .22. My ex-wife wouldn't let me spend a lot on guns or ammo, so a $50 pistol that shot two cent ammo was in the budget. Unfortunately, it was a POS. It fails to extract more often than not, and is of course, the most inaccurate gun in the world.

However, it's still here and she's not. As much as I dislike the gun, I like it more than her. :D

Hmm .. the old fave thread eh!

My worst was way back .. a Charter Arms Pathfinder .. .22lr. Pity actually as it was great for grips and ''feel'' but .. (and in fairness) it was well used. D/A was hopeless ... so S/A use only ... and despite making a new part (sort of ''fish shaped'' plate linking trigger mechanism with cyl bolt) .... it was beyond redemption. Here's a rather poor pic of ole thing.

The Phoenix ..... hmmm .... maybe I was lucky .. I did aquire one of these just for fun .. the HP-22 .... and yeah, it is el cheapo .. but if I keep it cleaned enough it is a great fun plinker and ''ammo burner'' ....... with the long barrel fitted it is actually not bad for accuracy. Had to reassemble the mag release catch tho ... did that myself .. and to be honest do not expect much from such a cheapie. Still enjoy it from time to time.

An HK P70Z. 18 round clip DA only and the trigger pull was 19.1 pounds.
Finally used it only for wax bullets and feline dissuasion.

A tie for me. A Springfield Ultra Compact ported V10 in 45 ACP. A Ruger 10/22. Neither one worked for two consecutive shots. FTF, FTE and just untrustworthy.

Worst gun I ever owned was definitely my first center fire gun. A German made 38 Spl Snub nose (new) made by "Arminius" if I remember correctly. After only 1 box of regular factory 38s ( not plus P or anything like that) the frame had warped so badly that the cylinder wouldn't close anymore. Brought it back to the gun smith where I bought it and got a used S&W M19.

A close second was a Taurus PT92. Bought it new. The rear sights fell off after 2 boxes of ammo. After about 500 rounds the slide/frame play was getting so bad that I thought I had a baby rattle in my hand. Never owned another Taurus since.

Besides those 2, I have had good luck with every gun I ever owned.

The ATF and Auto Ordnance claimed that the chunk of metal and plastic they called a 1911A1 I had was a gun, but that was never proven by a successful discharge of a single cartridge.:barf:

Pre-NRM Colt Commander. Wouldn't run, dealer took it back in trade.

I've never had a real junker, though, just little aggravations. I'll count my blessings.

I have to agree with J Miller about Marlin. In 1976 I bought a NIB Marlin 336C 30-30. It would jam if more than one round was put in the magazine. The lever and bolt had to be removed to clear the jam. Sent it back to Marlin twice and they still didn't fix it. They gave me a new rifle and it worked perfectly. I hunted with it for 10 years and gave it to my brother. He still fills his deer tag every year with it.

Guess it's a tossup between the Auto Ordnance 1911A1 in .45 ACP that shot 12" low at 10 ft or the Erma .22 toggle action that couldn't feed reliably enough to put together enough successive hits on target to determine the realationship between POA and POI.

S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece

My first 'new' handgun. I had to give my dad the money to buy it because I was still too young to purchase it myself. That was 1976.

That gun would pattern (yep, pattern) eight inches at 20 yards with wad cutters of all brands. I could do better with dad's Colt Diamond Back at 50 yards off hand.

This is also the gun that broke the main spring at full cock after only 400 rounds. The local gunsmith wouldn't touch it with loaded ammo in it. Soooo, I was sitting on a hillside fiddling around trying to get the crane to open when it discharged and almost took my foot with it. Couldn't have missed by more than an inch.

I had it fixed, put it up for sale and before I could get rid of it, it was stolen during a break-in. I suspect a guy that came to look at it to buy a few days earlier.

Norinco SKS.
My first rifle.

Constant failures to feed with the stock magazine. In retrospect it probably wouldn't have been that big a deal to fix, but it sort of soured me on the whole "indestructable/uber-reliable commie gun" party line. :)
