The Worst President?

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war.
They complain about his prosecution of it. They point out that
Iraq didn't attack the U.S. and we shouldn't have went to war
with them.
One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in
U.S. history.

Most of these claims come from liberals in the Democratic party.
Being an Independent I decided to take a look at history and see
if using that criteria who else could be called the "worst" president.

FDR ( a Democrat) led us into World War II against Germany, Italy, and Japan.
Neither Germany or Italy ever attacked us: Japan did.
From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.
That's 1 Democratic President, 4 years and 450,000 American lives

Harry Truman (a Democrat) finished that war and started one in Korea, North
Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average
of 18,333 per year.
That's 1 Democratic President, 3 years, and 55,000 American lives.

John F. Kennedy (a Democrat) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam
never attacked us.
Lyndon B. Johnson (a Democrat) turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975,
58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year. Finally in the 1970's
Richard Nixon (a republican) pulled us out of Vietnam.
That's 2 Democratic Presidents, 1 Republican President, 13 years, and 58,000
American lives.

Bill Clinton went to war in Bosnia WITHOUT UN or French consent, Bosnia
never attacked us.
The Clinton administration was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter
three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple
occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated
two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors
in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured Sadaam
Hussein, who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.
We lost about 600 soldiers, an average of 200 a year. Bush did all this
abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.
That's 1 Republican President, 2 1/2 years, and about 600 American lives.

Then the Democrats complained about how long the war on terror is taking,
but...

It took less time to take Iraq than it TOOK JANET RENO TO TAKE THE
BRANCH DAVIDIAN C0MPOUND! THAT WAS A 51 DAY OPERATION!

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for LESS TIME THAN
IT TOOK HILLARY CLINTON TO LOCATE THE ROSE LAW FIRM RECORDS IN HER OWN OFFICE!

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy
the Medina Republican Guard than it took TED KENNEDY TO CALL THE POLICE AND GIVE
HIMSELF UP AFTER HE HAD AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRUNK AND SANK HIS OLDSMOBILE IN
THE CHAPPAQUIDIK RIVER KILLING THE YOUNG LADY WHO WAS HIS PASSENGER!

And Finally...
IT TOOK LESS TIME FOR THE U.S. MILITARY TO TAKE IRAQ THAN IT DID TO COUNT THE
VOTES IN FLORIDA IN 2000!!!!

But for some reason the Democrats didn't complain about how long any of that took! Hmmm.....

VOTES IN FLORIDA IN 2000!!!!..
Since you are incorrectly assuming that we have "TAKEN" Iraq, when in fact we only occupy it, can you tell us all how many years it will be before we can leave without it collapsing into civil war? At least when they got done in Florida, it did not break into civil war... although many would have liked to have a shot at Jeb Bush.

BH, it is a fact that every single county in Florida that had voting problems and recounting problems was a Democratic county with a Demomcrat supervisor of elections. Intersesting....

Could it have been that "Democrats" are a stupid product of our "Public Schools"?

NO, they know exactly what they are doing. The goal is TOTAL AND COMPLETE CONTROL OF "CITIZENS". If you don't agree with them, you have to be FORCED to your happiness!

Wasn't it Grey Davis of PRK that said: "Education is too important to send my childs to public school", denying vouchers for the same people, Democrats are bragging to care for?

It's pathetic that the same people that had 40 years of power in this country accomplished the very helpful deed for the poor to tax Social Security and raise taxes to an unknown hight in the history.

Want to know why American companies are going out of our country?

By the way, what happened to all the votes from Americans overseas?
My last information was, that it was NOT allowed to count those.

John F. Kennedy (a Democrat) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.

Technically not true. Eisenhower ordered the first soldiers into Vietnam in 1955 (the first casualty was in 1956, I believe), although Kennedy did send even more.

My pick's:

#1- Bill Clinton
#2-Lyndon Johnson
#3-Jimmy Carter
#4-Franklin Roosevelt
#5-Herbert Hoover

I agree with this list.

As far as the Iraq war. We liberated 25 million (+) people, and are introducing the middle east to the glory of democracy. Yeah it isn't perfect but it's better than socialism, communism, and so on.
Besides that, anyone that doesn't understand that now with embassies, and itel groups in Iraq (not to mention the hope of a U.S. Ally), no country in the mid east can fart without us knowing. It is a brilliant strategy in the war on terror. We need eyes and ears around the corner of the terrorist hot beds.

I would rather have the terrorists preoccupied trying to save face in Iraq than killing civilians in the US. I don't want to see any of our military injured or killed but they have trained for battle while the average US civilian has not.

Bring all the troops home, circle the wagons, paint a big red bull's eye on the US and then wait for the terrorists come visit.

Sounds kind of like a precursor to Pearl Harbor all over again.

If we bury our head in the sand an hope they forget we are here they will just shoot us in the hiny instead.

John Kerry's Guide To Destroying the U.S.
Bring all the troops home, circle the wagons, paint a big red bull's eye on the US and then wait for the terrorists come visit.
Looks like you've read John Kerry's Book Taurus ..

and I was gonna vote for JFK, LBJ and Clinton as the worst .. in no particular order ..

I don't think Clinton is the worst president, in terms of policies that were put into effect and laws signed during his administration.

Granted the AWB and NAFTA occurred under his presidency, but the AWB is going away and NAFTA has been embraced by Republicans at least as much as Democrats.

Now, he was a despicable, vile man and a liar with absolutely no honor, but I don't think his presidency will have any longstanding impact on our country, and in a hundred years he will be about as well remembered as Millard Fillmore.

I really think GW Bush is working hard to make it on the worst list. And it is not because of the Iraq War, but because of his domestic policies.

He has expanded Medicare more than anyone since LBJ, so if you don't like big government, nanny state fostering Democrats like LBJ and FDR, then you should equally dislike Bush in that regard.

He has signed into law Camgaign Finance Reform, thus limiting free political speech, even though he himself said it was probably unconstitutional.

The Patriot Act is another example of a lasting legacy that we will eventually come to regret.

In terms of Constitutional damage, I think GWB may be getting close to the top.

Hey at least he isnt a Democrat though, all this would be just a whole lot worse if he was a Democrat.

Klintoon, for making the Office of The President a world-wide laughing stock, not to mention all the illegal stuff. NAFTA/AWB/MONICA, ETC.

Jimmy Carter. A foreign policy buffoon.

Taft. Ohio is still suffering under the [ahem] "Leadership" of grandson, Guv. Booby Daft

LB Johnson. the "Great Society" programs. Should have been called "The Great Social Engineering Disaster Plan".

While Clinton was off staining dresses we were being attacked at the WTC, USS Cole, and other US interests abroad. Acts of war. He could've had OBL three times and was more interested in his weiner than US security. He's high on the list of the worst.

In terms of bad presidents, Carter is definitely up there. Probably one of the only men to do more for the nation after he was president than while he was president.

Clinton, for all he may be hated now, will probably be simply forgotten by history. He's another Millard Fillmore or Grover Cleveland. Nobody really knows who they are or what they did, but they were president. At worse he will be seen as a scandal ridden executive of the like not seen since US Grant. I mean what is his legacy? "I did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky."? "That depends on what the meaning of is is"? Dubya already has his and he hasn't finished his first term yet!

I am my no means a presidential scholar.

FDR did get the US into WWII, no doubt about that but I believe that any president in office during the 1930s through 1940s would have taken us into war sooner or later. The US did declare war on Japan after they attacked us, and we later declared war on Germany and Italy because Germany declared war on the US not long after we declared war on Japan.

I don't think that necessarily makes FDR a bad president. His wide spread social programs gave rise to the notion that government was responsible for all problems in society and that everyone had a place to take from the government probably did more to earn him high marks on the 'Worst President' list.

There have got to be other Presidents that were worse. Has anyone done any research on Harrison, Pierce, Tyler etc etc? How about Johnson, after Lincolcn got assasinated? I believe that his reconstruction policies have probably hurt this country to this very day.

I'd definitely put Clinton and Carter on the list. Carter for giving away the Panama Canal that the US built greatly injured our national defense. Clinton for being a lying scumbag perjurer that has a zipper problem.

How many of you would have preferred that we NOT have gone to war against Nazi Germany? That list is, at best, a 1/2 fast analysis of a number of complex situations.
Every time one of these lists, no matter which side of the aisle it comes from, gets posted I have this morbid desire to see how many people who could otherwise be considered intelligent race to the keyboard so they can post "Yeah! What he said!"

I vote Carter.

His meddling in other president's business turns my stomach. All his meddling and undermining will not change his impotent term as President. He was just plain embarrassing.

Clinton (Bill and Hillary) and their socialist agenda. Not to mention their whiny vice president.

That said...I am not happy with GWB either. I think we can not afford to give up civil liberties to gain temporary safety. That's why we are US citizens and not a British colony. The slope is slippery and only takes a little poor judgment to head down the same old road to tyranny.

We had a similar problem in WWII due to fears of Japanese Americans. People were always wondering where their loyalties lay. A lot of people were willing for them to give up their civil liberties because of fear.
