Here is a fun poll to decide which state has the worst firearm laws. Sorry i forgot to include Mass. but I can assure you NY gun laws are alot worse especailly with Bloomberg.

Well since I live in MD, I'm going with that. BTW, I'm surprised MD isnt on your list. The laws are pretty bad here.

I'm guessing the choices are between California, The Peoples Republic- Messachusets- The not so Garden State- The Rotten Apple- and Marrygoround Land- Have I missed any more of the obvious?
My vote goes to The People's Republic if for no other reason than I have to traverse it to get to Kentucky from the free state of Missouri

Hawaii should be on the list also, space permitting.
I know Illinois sucks from experience. But at least our travel laws aren't obscene like NJ, semi-autos aren't banned like MD, .50 cals aren't banned like CA, multiple purchases aren't banned like VA, there are no magazine capacity limits like MA, and you don't need to have an interview with the police like HI. So I count our blessings, to a small extent.

Why's Ohio on your list? Ohio's on of the freest states in the union. Especially ever since we passed preemption of the stupid local anti-gun laws.

I chose California becuase unlike any of the minor nuisance laws they actaully name specific weapons you cant own. In california you cannot own any weapons of the AK genre, you cannot own any weapons of the AR genre, and you may not own any "sniper rifles with .50 caliber rounds"

That's not true actually. The "genre of weapon ban" was deemed violative of due process. They now have to name each weapon that they specifically hold to be an AR-15 or Ak47 clone.
CA is pretty consistently antigun. However, due to state preemption it is far better than it would be if the cities could have their own way. Chicago is a great example of this.
NY state is pretty tolerable in comparison (basically just the easily avoidable 94 federal rules repeated on the state level) though lack of preemption gives them NYC, which is easily one of the worst places in the country.
If you're only going to count the entire state, I'd have to say CA. All the worse places are cities in non-preemptive states.

Sorry for not listing certain states but I did not want to have 16 different answers just because people feel slightly inconvienanced based on where they live. With only 8 chioces the data stays more concentrated.
This is actually not true, though that was the intent of the law.

However, it's not simple, it's not cheap, and there are still feature combinations that are illegal.
Anyway, California allows open carry outside town; there's no problem with using HP ammo for home defense. All non-cartridge firearms are mail-order legal or cash-and-carry. I had to pick New Jersey as being even worse.

Are you aware of the legislation they are trying to pass that would require you to present id anytime you buy ammo and fill out a crap load of forms?

Well, I don't know exactly. I can't say I know all the laws in all the states enough to make that determination. Even if someone did know ALL the laws, it would still be a hard call. All the bad states have some pluses and minuses. So.. instead .. I'll just put New York .. becasue thats the state with bad gun laws that affect ME. It may not be the worst, but its fairly horrible, and the worst for ME.

I had a toss up between CA and NY. When my brother applied for a CCW in NY had to actually get references.

94 ban still exists, no mags over 15 rounds, no ccw, have to get permits for each pistol, I shure there is more.

You put Colorado on the list of "bad" states and not on the list of "good" states.
Colorado is a better state for gun owners than Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Virginia or Pennsylvania if by "good" you mean lax gun laws and easy to get CCW without a bunch of stupid restrictions.

CA hands down some of the most backward laws around. 
It's a Felony to carry a concealed knife and a misdemenor to carry a loaded gun. go figure. 
I can't buy a Colt, Bushmaster Armalite AR but can get as many Stags and Off list lowers & uppers as I can afford. I can't buy NEW 20 & 30 round mags but those I posess prior to 1994 I can have, use and repair. 
Ben Aflac & Sylvester Stalone can get a CCW and I can't :banghead:eventhough I can carry legally in 2/3 of the country with my UT & FL permits.

its hard to belive no one has mentioned D.C. yet. Basically if a handgun works, then it's illegal, no ammo, no pepper spray, no edged "weapons" over 4", but somehow they consistently hold the title for murder capitol of the US. On top of that, D.C. is the only place where an infringement (I no longer refer to them as laws) can be passed that affects us all.

As an Illinois resident I would still say California is worse than us. The FOID sucks along with no carry but at least there are no banned guns and no banned lists.
