Would you buy a gun with a off center sling stud?

I've seen several guns that have the sling studs in the stock not perfectly centered. More like 1/4" off or so to one side. It's pretty obvious when looking at them straight on. This got me to thinking would you all buy a gun that had the sling stud off center? Wouldn't this greatly lower the value? Or am I the only one that gets annoyed by this?

I don't know if it would matter with the sling on it or not but the off center stud just for some reason is a pet peeve of mine. You still have to look at that even if you don't use slings.

I'd more throughly (than usual) check it for any other "quality" work that was done to it. The stuff that stands out generally makes me suspicious of sub-par work that isn't so noticeable.

As others have said, it would depend on the price. I would use that and anything else wrong as a negotiating point.

How much can you expect sellers to knock off for this? I'm not looking at any now but just wondering in case I ever came across one in the future to buy.

I doubt that they would knock off a great deal (perhaps 5-10% for a used rifle)...but it is a bargaining chip in your favor...it wouldn't bother me one bit for a hunting rifle, but I wouldn't pay extra for a factory defect on a new rifle [and probably wouldn't buy it at all]. :)

I'm right handed and carry my rifle on my right side always. It might actually be more ergonomic that way. Depends on how it is done. I would still use it as bargaining chip.

If you want a good laugh check out the new Browning X Bolt Medallion. THey have an intricate series of well checkered diamonds runnin the length of the bottom of the forearm. The last one points right to the front sling stud. The point of the diamond is centered on the forearm but the sling stud is 1/4" or more off center. It looks terrible!

I bought a rifle, and didn't notice the stud was off till I mounted a bipod. One side was a notch higher then the other:eek:
