for those with 56k internet, it shows a "modernized" mosin 91/30. description says

"Taking two times three shots with re-built mosin-nagant. It has Finnish-made barrel (7.62x53R) renewd in 1968, shirstone 3-9x32 scope and a range stock. "

another look here

first question is who'd you do that to your mosin [beater or not]. also where could i find that kind of stock.

Eh, Mosin's are cheap enough. I reckon it's up to the owner to do with it as he wishes, but not what I'd do with mine. I guess if you got one with a broken stock. That stock looks homemade to me, there's nice aftermarket stocks out there, I think Boyd's and ATI make 'em.

I've seen worse but yeah, don't like the look of that thing

Looks pretty good to me.

We are trying to preserve Russian history through $75 dollar rifles? I'm not.

I don't care for it. I'd leave it military. Besides, my 91/30s are sniper versions and they're good to go from the arsenal. Changing them will decrease their value.

It is actually a pretty well done "bubba" rifle, it actually looks nice! While i wowuld start with another action........it is well done. The MN is a good starter rifle for a project, because it does cost so little.

You planning to sell them Gary? I didn't think so. Resale value of a $75 rifle isn't much of an issue. You just like them in military form. That's fine. He likes his in sporter form. That's fine too.

Who cares waht people think, it's his rifle.

I like it. It looks good, nothing bubba about it if you ask me.

I would've done that to my old Mosin if I had the chance as it was a piece of garbage. I ended up selling it for fifty bucks.

"Bubba" strikes again; another piece of history bastardized into an inferior Remchester.

Uhhhhhhhh. Yeah. Cause there aren't millions more for $100 everywhere. I would understand it if he had done that to a better rifle, such as a finnish mosin, but he didn't.

I actually think that looks pretty damn good.

Yeah, I probably would do that to a mosin, since they cost 79.99 and there are enough of them that you're not really damaging history.

What I wouldn't do is be so damned gentle with the bolt. ***? It's a battle rifle. The parts are made to be slammed around, not gently pressed.

Also, it seems to me that the gun might be a tad more accurate than he is.

BTW, the second mosin with all the tactical junk on it... I think that's the first time I've seen a gun that actually cost less than it's tax stamp.

forgot how long ago I saw it, but there was an LEO/Mil sniper comp going on in Finland, IIRC and one of the team members was sporting a tweaked out Mosin chambered in 300 WinMag. Didn't do too bad either, from what I remember of the story.

Hell, I wouldn't mind trying it out...find a beater hex receiver and go to work. It worked for Finland back in the Winter War, tweaking the rifles that Russia dropped.

Yeah, it was the Lapua sniper comp, he was using a 155gr senecar load. Suppossidly shot really good out to 1k. I want to get my hands on a beater sometime....

Ah, Mosins, the eternal paradox.

Stock, they're inaccurate pieces of crap with horrible triggers and crappy sights that nobody needs because they can't shoot worth a damn and the bolts stick all the time besides.

Sporterized, why the hell would you ruin a perfectly good Mosin like that!

:D

Are the parts on modern weapons made to be gently pressed?

I thought the original posted clip showed a rather nicely done Mosin. Seemed like a unique stock too.
I've got two M44 Mosins, one of which I sporterized with an ATI stock, removed the bayonet bracket and fabricated a sleeve and installed an ATI front sight. I've yet to alter the bolt handle but plan on it. The metal and barrel looks like new. My other is a completely original laminated stock version. That will remain original and has a beautiful stock. That barrel does show use.

I believe owners of these types of firearms have the right to do as they please with them. Purists be damned.

Tactical Ninja, those are exactly my sentiments as well. I'm a shooter, not a collector. The collectors can keep their bad ergonomics and mushy triggers.

I've seen that guy's YouTube videos before. He's in Finland, and he's got a bunch of cool rifles (and pistols), including a Finnish M39 Mosin in original military trim. Judging by the attitudes of my Finnish relatives, he probably figures that anything he does to the Russian rifle is an improvement. (Finns aren't fond of Russians--it's like the Irish and the English.)

(No offense to Mosin fans--I have a couple of M39s myself, and the thought of Bubba-izing those gives me nightmares.)
