My ruger is pretty accurate, but i think that the colt is worth more. Waht are you guys thoughts? lockup doesnt seem to be bad or anything like that and both pistols are in pretty good condition.

He wants my sr9c with 3 magazines and 150 rounds of ammo to trade for the colt trooper with just a case.

Would you make this deal?

OH Heck yes I'd make the trade ! You can buy those Rugers everywhere, but Colt quit making those Troopers back in '94. Check the tightness of the action : Cock the hammer all the way back, like you are shooting SA, squeeze the trigger, holding onto it, lower the hammer all the way down, now, grab the cylinder and check for "any" movement at all, should not be any if its been taken care of. This will show if the pawl and cylinder still in good working condition, the back of the cylinders notches should also be in good shape. If you are seriously considering this trade, don't take too long, grab it ! I own 4 Colts, they are superior revolvers !

You MUST be looking for rationalization if you come to the revolver forum and ask such a "silly" question..... :D Of COURSE we're all going to say that you should take the trade in a New York Moment.

Even if the gun is a touch less than pristine it sounds like it's still a great deal.

Gun known to be a good one that isn't made anymore and value is rising versus a common gun that you can buy another one of any day...what more rationale do ya need??

How much is this one worth? i think its the newer gen.

Well guys, i went ahead and made the trade. Id conservatively say that this gun is 90%.

The SA trigger is VERY light. im talking...barely touch it and it goes off. The double action is smooth and lockup seems to be pretty nice. I cant believe a gun like this is in decent condition up here in Alaska.

Just wanting a ballpark estimate of its worth so i can brag about it to my friends.

You traded an SR-9c for an excellent condition Colt Trooper? I hope you took him to dinner first and send some flowers tomorrow ...

I wouldn't be surprised to see cabellas or another retailer put that in their gun room with an $850 tag on it.
I guess I'm commenting about retail price. Cool revolver!

I'd have made that trade in a heartbeat.
In fact, I traded a PM9 for a 6" Trooper MKIII a few months ago, and was happy as could be.

I have seen Troopers like that priced anywhere from $899 and up. That's a really good friend you've got there as he could have easily asked for two SR9cs in trade. Great deal on your part!

Do yourself a BIG favor and shoot a couple cylinder fulls of ammo through it first.
make sure it functions with live ammo.
I had a trooper MKIII when I fired it the bullets came loose from the case (bullet creep) and tied up the cylinder after three shots. I fired the same ammo out of three different smith revolvers I own and this did not happen bullets didnt even move in the Smiths... A very strange problem that usually happens in lightweigh AL frame revolvers.. The trooper MKIII has a very short cylinder for a .357 mag, some longer .357 reloads may not work in it. Shoot it first....They are hard to get fixed......
