Would you sell your first gun?

I wont sell my first (marlin model 60). I also wont sell any that have been passed to me by family members.

Not in a million years. My first gun (that I purchased) was a pretty rough 1878 Swiss Vetterli from a pawn shop at the ripe old age of 14 and I paid $8 for it. That was a few years ago needless to say.

I took it home, stripped it completely, refinished the stock with about 15 coats of BLO, stripped the metal down to bare metal and cold blued it in the bathtub, and polished it up with good oil and a stick. Burnished it actually, and it still looks great. No way I'd part with it.

Accually my first gun was an old H&R 410 shotgun with the break lever on the side. I actually gave it to my uncle who passed away last week. He needed it to deal with some dogs who were chasing his horses in the field. Would I sell my first handgun? No. My 6" Colt Python was a family project. I picked the gun I wanted, my grandmother loaned me some money, and my dad filled out the paperwork (I was 19 at the time). That Python means quite a bit to me. It served as my duty weapon (armed private security officer) for about 3 years. It did its job protecting me while I did my job protecting others.

Never! A Winchester model 55 my Dad gave me back in '68. Now the 1st gun I bought myself was a POS Jennings 22LR. I gave it away.

No I would not. I wasn't allowed to have a pistol when I was growing up so I saved my money and bought a Ruger Single Six .22 as soon as I turned 21. I was a senior in college (Wreck Em Tech) I think it cost about $150 at a gun shop in Lubbock.

I would not part with it.

I did. It was a S&W I picked up in a pawn shop. Had it been something handed down to me by say, my father or one of my grandfathers then I most certainly would not have.

I'll admit now that I did sell my first gun. A few years later I was presented with a chance to get it back and jumped on it. I was lucky. Otherwise I'd still be kicking myself.
