Would you shoot an arsonist and/or looter?

If you were at your home or place of business which was completely locked-up and posted no trespassing and a mob of people tried to break in or set fire to it would you fire upon them if you had a 100% safe path to safety for you and your family/employees?

If you can escape, it's best to do so, even if the law does not require it.


Quick eta: my home is going to be a much different story than a place of business. My business would be insured against such damages. My home would be as well, but sentimentally speaking, I'm not giving up my home to a bunch of rioters if I can help it.

The problems with shooting into a crowd of rioters are many. 1) they may flee and disperse. 2)They may flee momentarily then come back with much more ferocity. 3) shooting may only entice them to continue their actions, and not stop at simple looting but escalate into murdering you and your family.
