Would you shoot, let alone buy someone else's UNKNOWN reloads?

The only reloads I ever shot were my Brother's and he taught me how to reload. There was a guy in a group I used to hunt ducks with that had two loads. His light loads for 12 ga. 2 3/4" were, I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP, one spoon loads, i.e. one teaspoon of Red Dot. His heavy loads were two spoon loads, i.e. two teaspoons of Red Dot. :what::eek:

Needless to say I would never shoot any of his loads. Hell, I didn't even want to be around him when he touched one off. He had a Mossberg 500 that would almost shuck itself when he touched off one of the two spooners!

God takes care of drunks and idiots.

I will use my own reloads, and I do all the time. I know what's in them. I will never use another's. I recall a post (I think it was on the marlinowner forum) where someone got mixed up and loaded some .45-70 with AA#7 instead of Reloder 7. They blew up a pretty nice 1895 with it too.

The only time I'd buy someone else's reloads would be to pull the bullets & re-use the pieces/parts.

The only time I'd shoot someone else's reloads would be if I was there helping him/her while making them.

Now come the question: If they (reloads) were done by the guy with the class 06 FFL, labeled professionally with company name and contact info on box. He only does it as a hobby but does it as a second job to earn a little "gun" money. Do you patronize this product line?????

Straight Shooter brings up a good point. Would any of you absolutists buy from MasterCast or a similar remanufacturer? I'm talking about the guys who wouldn't even shoot their father's reloads in one of his guns.

Specifically, just by looking at the OP's picture, I'd shy away. Lead-only 9MM bullets have always leaded up my bore. They move too quickly and leave parts of themselves stuck to my barrel.

Generally, someone else's reloads are always a gamble. Who knows how attentive he/she was when they reloaded them?

No- I made that mistake once (using someone's reloads). For the 2nd shot the brass got stuck because there was a bulge in it.

I might take them apart for the components. probably would not shoot them unless they were commercial reloads.

Here is the picture of the rounds in case someone didn't make it to the url.

EDIT: Even the OAL are severely different.

Trust

Since reloading I have learned how easy it is to screw up faster than ammo goes of the shelves at Wally World.

However, I trust myself enough that I would allow my friends and family to shoot my reloads. I would shoot another persons reloads if I knew them well enough.

Hell - I was shooting a case of stock blazer 9mm (not brass) and the damn case split up the side shooting 12" of flames out my ejection port. That woke me up!!! So, you never know either way. If the person is someone you know, trust, is not reckless - I would shoot them.

I would not buy them from an unknown source...and I even don't like buying the reloaded ammo at the gun store.

I should hope that's illegal...

There's absolutely no guarantee of any sort of quality control here. The buyer (sold for $265) could end up destroying their weapon or losing a finger, possibly worse.

I hope these were bought to be dismantled and used for parts. The bullets would be ok to use if pulled and sorted by weight, and the primed brass could be safe if thoroughly examined.

No way I'd trust the mystery amount and type of powder in those things.
