I could hardly believe it but my local news station here in NC did a 3 part story on women and firearms for self defense. One of the local female reporters went and took a NRA sponsored gun safety class and learned to shoot handguns for self defense. It was actually one of the most pro RKBA story's I have ever seen on TV. She told her story on how she was recently put in a bad situation and how that sparked her interest in obtaining a firearm for self defense. She also reported on how many times guns are used everyday in self defense and that people don't give guns the respect that they deserve and that guns are not killing machines:D . She encouraged all of the viewers out there to take a gun safety course and that it is, "Better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it." The station also set up a hotline that people can call in and find out when and where they can take safety classes and also the most reputable dealers in the area. I guess my dealer is right when he says that if you go north of the mason dixon line you left the USA because you will never hear a story like that in any of the northern states. The news station was WCTI channel 12 out of New Bern (my town) North Carolina and the reporter was Colleen Maloney. The stations web site is www.wcti12.com and her email is [email protected] I am going to email her and the station and thank them for running such a truthful and informative piece. Although none of you saw it I still think that it would be nice for a few of you to email and congratulate her on her decision to support RKBA and seeing the truth behind using handguns for self defense.

Nah, we had one like that a few months ago, but with senior citizens instead of women.

I e-mailed her and thanked her.

We had a recent report about CCW here on the news but it was very positive, just a "old people have guns, why?" type thing.

Here in Seattle, I'm only impressed by the local news when Leslie Miller comes on channel 13. Ooooh! Sweet Leslie Miller.

Sorry to say, I hear she'll be leaving the market soon.

Otherwise, it will be hailing in Hades before a pro-gun story hits the local news.
