Wow, the Glock is amazing

I posted earlier that I bought one for a great price. That in itself is worthy of a wow.

I took it to the range, and I was pretty pleased with its performance. I like the sights and the way it feels in my hand. Some other guns feel like they sit really high up, S&W, Sig etc. so that was good.

I took it home to clean it. I was a little troubled that it didn't look like my CZ. I was thinking great something new to learn how to tear down. Well this thing came apart really easy, and went back together really easy. Easier than my CZ and I thought that was pretty simple. I've had guns that I literally wrestled to take a part and put back together.

Further more I was amazed at how light the frame was (which is why the 40 cal does have a modest recoil), but that the gun felt so balanced and not top heavy. I was also amazed at the design and simplicity.

I'm really liking this Glock. I was so impressed how simple it was to take down , I did it again, and again. Good practice to get used to the new gun.

I think I'm really going to like the G23 a lot.

The only thing I think I'd like is some sort of grip sleeve to put over it. Does hogue make something to fit ober a gen 3 Glock? Also any recomendations for a IWB holster?

10mm is a hoot.

As you noticed, Glocks are easy to tear down and maintain, but I still shoot my 1911's better.
That's why I have both, then I don't have to decide.

wild billz, G23 is a solid weapon. Carried one for 4 1/2 years as a LEO in a Milt Sparks IWB rig. Lots of good makers, but I prefer Milt Sparks.

If you are going to carry the G23, I would eschew any silly grip condoms. The Glock grip rubbers can slide off and interfere with the mag well, a very bad thing in a fight. Less is more.

Watch your bullet setback on the .40 and you should have an excellent weapon.

Hogue and Pachmayr make a grip sleeve you can use on the Glock.

I use Hogue slip on grips on all my Glocks.
While it is true that the 1st and 2nd generation guns could experience some slipping of the Hogue grips, the 3rd generation don't seem to have the same problem due to the built in finger grooves.

You could buy a Houge slip on grip for $10-12 or you could make 10-12 slip on grips yourself for $0 if you just cut up an old inner tube from a bike.

Good choice with the G-23. I have 2, plus a G-19. IMHO, Glocks are the most simple handgun design to strip and maintain. For me, the compact size is the perfect fit, and the Glocks are reliable, tough, and accurate. I also like the CZs. I am thinking about getting the 97B for my next handgun purhase for many of the same reasons. What can I say, I've got an addiction.

I recently bought a G19. I must say I love this gun. It seems to fit me like a glove and is fun and cheap to shoot. Plus it is accurate and seems to be reliable as hell.

If you want to try the Hogue grip, spray a little hairspray inside the grip just prior to installation. The slickness will make installation easy and the hairspray will dry and keep the grip from moving. Hairspray is water-soluble, so it's easy to clean up and won't hurt your Glock. You also might consider AGrip.

Glad you like it. Many people knock the Glock without reason and many people build it up for no reason. In my opinion, and I'm a long time 1911 guy, one of the very best features of the Glock is the low bore axis or how low it sits in the hand.

I had a Hogue grip sleeve once. I hated it. I would like to try an AGrip but I wont spend twenty bucks on a solution looking for a problem.

Sidearmor makes a high quality kydex IWB...they cost about $50.00 last I looked.

I installed an AGrip on my Glock 30....superb, and worth the money.

I have a Hogue slip-on grip on my Glock 17....works OK, but AGrip is far and away better.

I have eight at the current time... The only Glock I've owned that I didn't care for was the model 36, but that was based on feel ratehr than performance... sold it... kept the others.

I don't care for grip sleeves or agrip fuzzy wraps, but do like the Decal Grip type skateboard tape. It has never caused me problems and blends well with the finish while adding miniscule bulk to the grip.

Glock 21 Yeah. I tried the Pachmayr slip on grip on my 21 and found it made the grip a little to big for me .

I own two autoloaders: a Glock 19 and a Glock 21.

Doesn't mean I don't recognize that there are other fantastic brands out there (because there obviously are), but those two are just right for me.

I'd be worried that it would be slippery if you grabbed it with a sweaty hand because they're usually oily to boot.

I use a Gurkha IWB for my Glock 32, and this holster is a dream! Customer service is superb, too. Thinking of putting my Sidearmor IWB up for sale to finance another Gurkha (one for my 17.)

My third generation Glock 22 rides in an Uncle Mike's kydex paddle holster when I'm out in the field. However, my Glock 35 will almost always be seen in a Bladetech drop & offset holster. The G35 wears a Hogue slip on grip and I have yet to find an occasion where my paws are too sweaty for it. Purchase is good, and stays in my hand when I need it the most...runnin' & gunnin'.

Look into a Glock 35 if you want to try something different.

I like Glocks. Considering that I used to consider myself a die-hard 1911 guy, this is impressive. Currently in the middle of working up an accurate 10+ yd load for a G-26. It doesn't seem to like my normal 124 gr load, but I will not stop trying. Good luck with your new 23, and be careful; they're addictive!
