I took my 3913 to the range yesterday. After putting a couple of hundred rounds through it all I can say is: WOW, I love this gun.

As I mentioned in an earlier thread I traded a Glock 23 for my 3913. The 3913 is alot better shooter than the G23 ever was, atleast in my hands. At 10 yards I was making 2.5 in. groups. I also went through some double tap firing drills, drawing from the holster (with safety on), I was able to get better groups than with the Glock. I then tried some 50 foot shots, and again I shot better than I ever did with the Glock from that range.

The 3913 had no FTF or FTE's. It seems to be a very reliable weapon. I feel very comfortable in using it as my primary CCW weapon. I never felt comfortable carrying the G23 due to not being that accurate with it. The loss of rounds and lower caliber in the 3913 is made up for in accuracy and concealability.

I don't understand why the 3913 does not get any coverage in the gun magazines when talking about Concealed Carry Weapons. All they talk about are Glocks, Kahr, and KelTek. If not for a buddy who carries the 3913 I would have not even considered it. I don't think that S&W gets a fair shake in main stream gun media.

The 3913 got considerable press in the late 80's and early 90's, after it was released in 1989. But I acknowledge what you are saying about the contemporary gun rags only talking about the latest releases, usually.

I'm a little bit more accurate with my 3913 over my G23 as well, but it's not that big of a deal. What I like most, now that I've got a youngin' around, is the mag disconnect, and manual safety.

Sure, I'm giving up some fire power, but at this stage in my life, I couldn't care less.

I had a 3914 and it was one of the most reliable pistols I have ever owned. I just couldn't get used to the DA first shot. I should have kept it and sent it to a gunsmith for an action job. it was a good one

I also got a 3913 earlier this year. SWEET enough to give me faith in the 9mm again. I love that gun. FWIW, I feel that everybody wants a hicap in a 9 (but will settle for a single stack in 45.) The 39xx series seems to be WAY overshadowed by the double stacked 59xx series.

MarkTCO1.....these guys here on this site introduced me to the 3913 a couple years ago.
Boy...am I ever so glad they did!!!!
Got the 3913TSW......LOVE it!!

I have a like/dislike relationship with the 3913. I bought a used one from a dealer in California for a STEAL (less than $300, IIRC) a couple of years back. It was utterly reliable, but the grip never felt "right" to me. I did appreciate its slimness, though. I ended up selling it because I didn't really care for shooting it much, and I had other choices for carry.

Hogue makes replacement grips in both rubber and wood, they give the 3913 a much better feel in the hand. I disliked the slippery plastice that S&W uses.

I had a 3913 that I bought new and carried daily for a couple of years. I loved the little gun but my brother loved it more and I finally sold it to him one day. I've regretted it ever since and will have to pick up another one some day. Super reliable, easy to carry and shoot. I got rid of the stock grips and put a Hogue or Pachymeyer set on it, can't remember which now, and I thinned down the safety/decock lever down quite a bit as it made a noticible "print" when carried. Sweet little gun.

Greeting's All-

While I never have owned a S&W model 3913, I recently acquired a LNIB
S&W model 6906 with three standard capacity magazines, box and doc's
for $235 OTD. :D It has proven 100% reliable, and is a joy to CCW. :)
Backed up by my Seecamp LWS-32, no one ever knows I'm armed.

I got a 3913 about 5-6 months ago myself. I find myself growing more attached to it all the time. It was never a gun I wanted to like this much either. I had wanted a 3913 ever since I saw "Alien Nation" back in the early 1990s. One of the Alien cops had one and I thought it was cool. I only got the one I did because I got a good deal on it.

I have a Kahr K-9 that I think is the best 9mm ever made bar none. I never wanted to like the S&W 3913 almost as much as my K-9 but I do. I still slightly prefer the Kahr because it is more ergonomic to me and it really feels like a custom gun but the 3913 does get carried once in a while because I know I can trust it to be reliable and hit what I need at close range. For medium ranges, I prefer my Kahr because I am Annie Oakley with it. :D For long ranges (beyond 25 yards in a self defense situation), I don't think any handgun is going to be of much use. That is not to say that a handgun will not hit a person beyond 25 yards but I know that in a harry situation, I would never be able to keep my nerves under control enough to get any accuracy at that distance.

My home defense gun is my Beretta 92fs with night sights and hi cap and my carry gun is either my Kahr K-9 or S&W 642 but I would have no problem carrying the 3913 in a pinch. It is actually just as easy to carry as the other two for some reason. It is comfortable in a holster.

I had a 3913 for three years, traded up to the 4013. Carried it for three years and sold it for a Glock 23. I had problems with the grip, the Glock fits me better, but the S&Ws always carried easier. Enjoy.

I have to agree the 3913 is a great compact 9mm. Carry one for CCW in a Desantis Cozy Partner and Alessi mag pouch. Excellent choice for warm weather CCW.
