Let's write Ruger's President! He said on Guntalk the other day that if he gets 300-400 emails on something, he'll forward it to the product people. Let's get this rolling!!!

I've been looking for a K-Frame in 357. Why can't they make an SP101 slightly larger to accommodate six shots?

Go to www.ruger.com. Click "News & Research" and then "Tell the CEO".

Please write the CEO for this gun. If you have another idea, please start another thread and link to it. Then, everyone go write the CEO for that gun. THR has 14k+ active members; 1,000 emails shouldn't be tough to do.

Here is my letter:

Hi,

I've been looking for an S&W K-Frame replacement for years. I like the GP100 (3" barrel), but want something in the K-Frame size. I am writing to ask Ruger to build a slightly larger SP101 that holds six shots of 357 Magnum. I'd like it in 3" and 2 1/4" barrels. I would also like the option of a front night sight.

Additionally, I have a tendency to send my revolvers off to the gunsmith for work. Would it be possible to have some light custom work done from the factory? I like to cut the cylinder for moonclips, chamfer it, get a carry trigger job and smooth out the chambers.

I have never owned a Ruger Six line pistol, but I would like to change that. If Ruger brought them back at a reasonable price (like say, the price of a gp-100), I would buy one.

9mm SP101 over the .357 mag chambering would be my request also.
I'll not beat up the Taurus brand but I think they're the only common manufacturer making a snubbie revolver in 9mm, and have heard too many varying opinions on their performance.

how about a legitimate single stack 9mm pf-9 size or at least smalller than a kahr with a manual safety option to hopefully be "compliant"

Or a DA/SA 357/38/9mm revolver (I think they had this before?) with barrel length options from 2"-6"

We need to work in concert to get what we want. We can write more than one email. This thread is about a 6 shot SP101-ish gun.

Just write the guy for the 6 shot gun.

Then start another thread for the 9mm SP101 and PF9ish guns.. I'll write him for those; just use another thread.

Why not just write to have him bring back the Six series? That would probably be easier, & make more sense, while allowing them to compete with the "heritage" collection or whatever it is that S&W's putting out these days.

Wouldn't mind a stainless steel Speed/Security Six myself in .357. Wouldn't be that hard for them to do in a 9mm, either, I wouldn't think. And maybe one in .22LR.

Make the SP-101 with a 3" barrel with GOOD adjustable sights, along with an 8-shot .22 chambering.

If Ruger brought them back at a reasonable price
It has always been my understanding that William Ruger said that one of the main reasons for dropping the six series in favor of the GP100 was cost of production. He said on numerous occasions how much he liked the sixes but that he probably never made a dime on them. If that is accurate, the chances of bringing them back at a GP price point is pretty unlikely. To have a slightly larger SP that could hold six .357s would essentially mean producing a whole new revolver line with a new frame, I would think. It would be nice but I can't see it happening. But, hey, Ruger is getting a lot friskier lately so who knows?

Howzabout making more Anniversary-size .357 Blackhawks? It's kinda weird to have that size of Blackhawk chambered in .44 Special, but not .357 magnum. I certainly would like something the size of a New Vaquero, but with adjustable sights.

I voted no because I feel that ruger cant compare/replace a good 'ol K frame. I would rather have a 9mm SP101:neener:

Not to be too contrary, but this is terrible advice and is not fair to Ruger.

Unless you actually plan to buy the gun in question do NOT write to ask for it to be produced.

The reason a company might consider putting a gun into production is sales. The reason an email campaign might work is because it is evidence of potential sales. But if it's not really evidence of potential sales, if it's just a "you ask them for my gun and then I'll ask them for yours" it's effectively misleading the company into thinking there are a lot more potential sales than there really are.

It might get a few guns produced but it will cost the company a lot of money if all the demand they thought existed was artificially created and they can't sell enough to make the predicted sales numbers that caused them to start production.

only if it had adjustable sights......
and i dont know about the whole idea...
i am going to wait and see how this thing evolves....

honestly i wouldn't buy one... i like full size revolvers instead.
my next gun will most likely be one of those 8 shot .357 S&W Performance Center handguns.
... and this is coming for a super Ruger fan; the Smith is more what i am looking for.
i cant beg for a gun that i will not be buying

still going to wait and see how things on this thread goes...

wow, talk about responsive and quick. I wished for a blackhawk in 327 in the previous post, then visited the ruger web site, to learn they now make my dream gun. way to go ruger.

Big Ruger is watching you :D :scrutiny:

Absolutely I am in agreement about a Ruger DA .22lr!

How can any revolver manufacturer not have a .22lr on the same frame as its larger calibers? (in my mind anyway)
