I've been wanting to try WST in 45 Auto for a long time. I stopped in at my LGS Saturday and they had some in stock finally so I bought two pounds. I have data for 45 Auto but couldn't find any for the other cartridges I load so I guess it's all going in 45 Auto cases. I load Xtreme 200gr plated RNs so I'm going to be loading 4.5gr - 5.0gr. Who's tried it in 45 Auto and what do you think? Meter well? Clean? Accurate? Powder residue? I'm not looking for top velocities. If I were I'd just use the Power Pistol I use for 9mm.

I started using WST when it replaced the old WW452AA - a shotgun powder that was very good in .45 ACP. and my favorite .45 powder. Meters very well and burns very clean. WST is just about as good. It works great for light to medium target loads. My target load was 4.2 under a 200 gr. SWC and for Major power levels 5.0 to 5.2 makes a great load. Old data for WW452AA interchanges with WST. I think you will like it. I have data for WST with a few other calibers if you're interested.

As Drail said, meters well and is clean. Fills the case better than many powders. Great for 45 target loads using lead and plated bullets. I have used it in 40 and 9. Works decent enough for those too. Loaded up some for 38, but haven't shot any of those yet. I don't think you will regret having WST around. :)

My favorite 45 acp load is with WST and a 200gr SWC. Burned real clean. But i don't have a 45 anymore and have been working towards a better powder for my 9mm's.

I worked up a load for 9mm but i forgot where i got the data. I think it was from older published data if I'm not mistaken.

I really like WST. Performs well, burns clean. Meters well. Easy to see in the case. Wish I could find an 8 pounder somewhere.

WST is really great stuff in 45.

4.3gr under a 230gr RN, and 4.7gr under a 200gr SWC. Both made 165-170 PF out of a 5" 1911 for me.

I ran 4.4 gr under a 200gr SWC. Soft load and accurate. It was the start load and cycled both a Ruger P90 and a SR1911.

WST is a good powder if you want to get close to factory velocity but still not use very much powder. It meters well also.

I've put thousands under 230 gr LRN at 4.5 gr. a round. Nothing beats it for duplicating felt recoil of carry loads. My load averages 778 fps out of a 3.78" bbl using range scrap.

I'm using WST in 45 ACP, 40 S&W and have used it 9MM as well. There was some old published data for it in 9. There are some loads on the Brian Enos forums. I based my loads on that, working up.
Pretty happy with it, have used up around 5 pounds of it.
Meter well? Yes, very well
Clean? Yes, burns up well
Accurate? Yes, for my needs
Powder residue? None encountered
