Just got a new XD 40 and shot about 100 rounds at the range today. At least 80 percent of my shots were shooting to the left. The grouping was somewhat tight, so its either me putting too much finger on the trigger and pushing to left when I shoot, or i need to adjust the sights, anybody else have the same problem or know what i should do?

I was doing the same thing until someone told me to "press the trigger" I guess I was "pushing" it. After I worked on it for a while it worked. I'm no expert but this could be your issue. Good luck.

I shoot nothing but XD's, all four of them. Either your holding your left hand in the wrong position or not griping the guy tight enough. Try shooing strong hand only then off hand only. Most, me included, had problems with shooting left and it takes practice.
There's a couple of things to practice with that might help.
Aim the front sight first to the target
When you fire the first round hold the trigger in, don't release it, then ease the trigger forward until you can feel/hear it "click" and fire.. This gives you a much better target and the trigger pull is very slight. After you practice a lot it becomes automatic.

Make sure you are getting enough finger on the trigger and getting your finger in the same spot everytime. Had the same with a Glock and that was my problem.

I had the same problem-I was told to put the just the pad of my finger on the trigger & come straight back. What you want to do is come back easy enough on the trigger that it almost suprises you when the gun goes off. I had to practice dry firing with a double checked unloaded gun to learn this.

I can't tell you what is the problem except that I have never seen a XD that came from the factory with the sights not set right. If they did happen to be out out of adjustment, good luck moving either front or rear sight in the dovetail...tight. Chief aka Maxx Load
