I love my 1911's, all my training and most of my practice is with 1911's, and I love the .45 ACP.

But I am intriqued with the ammo capacity and ergonomics of the new XD 45.

So for you 1911 lovers, is an XD 45 a good option to have available, or will it ruin my trigger memory, and make me fall in love with plastic?

Note: I've never owned a Glock, either. This would be my first polymer gun and first polymer holster.

I like the trigger on my XD45 Tactical, but it is much different of a pull than my ParaOrdnance, which is of course SA. I shoot both and the difference in trigger does not really affect me (I don't think but who knows? ) I just got back from another range trip with my XD45 and each time I shoot it I get better and better. As far as Glock's go, I have a G36 and it is the most fussy .45 I have ever owned!:cuss:

I have an XD-40 and a Kimber. I find that I still gravitate towards the 45 and shoot the 40 only after I've run out of ammo or someone else is shooting it.

I like the XD platform. They are accurate, have a nice trigger, which can be made even better, and they are easy to shoot well, in my opinion. I love 1911's but I have an XD .40 SC that I like and when I saw the XD .45 (.45 after all) I just had to have one. I like it and it shoots well. I took it to the range twice to check out and it has stayed in the gun safe since. I like it well enough not to get rid of it but I probably won't shoot it that much either. A bit big to suite me.

Send your XD to Canyon Creek and let Rich work it over, it will be very very nice and quite close to a 1911 when you get it back.

Shooting other platforms is a GREAT way to become a better shooter. One of the best things you could ever do for your shooting is to shoot a cylinder full of 38's through a double action revolver for every round you put through a 1911. You would be amazed at how fast you can improve.

CCW XD .45

I love my XD. Most people would agree that in addition to a VERY good reliability rate, its greatest benifit is its capacity. However, fully loaded the XD weighs as much as a full sized 1911 and seems conciderably bulkier. Once again, I love my XD. If the SHTF I could think of no better handgun to have with me. I'll just limit my travels to places that I don't plan on needing 14 rounds of .45 acp.
