Ok, I have seen the hand book which shows how the 6 O'Clock hold works for my Service Model XD9. I just dont get why the gun needs to be aimed so low. Thats really my only problem with my XD. Does any one know why it is this way and if there is something I can do? Thanks

A 6 o'clock hold is standard for MANY guns.

If you really cannot stand it, you can always get new sights installed.

yep that is the norm with handguns. just using my 2 xd's for example. from 0 to 15yds or so it is point of aim, is the point of impact much farther than that and the 6 o'clock hold is needed. nothing wrong with the gun, it takes some getting used to but that is the way they are.

it's just the way the XD manual describes the sight picture. They refer to it as "6 o'clock".

there's nothing new about it. that's how almost all of the handgun's i've owned have been. you line the front sight up w/ the back sight, making sure the top of the front sight is flush with the top of the back sight as you are aiming it towards your target. you then place the top of your front sight right where you want the bullet to hit. When I had my XD 40, this sight picture gave me perfectly placed shots at around 20 yards or so.

don't forget to have equal "day-light" on each side.

Wow, I have been shooting for years and the first time I ever heard about the 6 oclock hold was when I got my XD.
